Well Duh: Consumers Flocked To Trucks And SUVs But Now Wish For Better Gas Mileage

Nearly three-quarters of large pickup and SUV owners in the U.S. are interested in buying a more fuel-efficient vehicle, according to a survey released Monday by Consumer Reports.

That compares with 42 percent of drivers of all other types of vehicles, according to the survey, conducted this year for the first time by the influential magazine.

I've always found it silly that hybridization was not focused FIRST of minivans, crossovers, pickups, and large SUVs. The Prius should have been a "Sienna".

The technology exists to make Expeditions and Tahoes reasonably efficient despite their size. That should have been a focus.

Many of the BMW, Mercedes and Audi SUVs with 4-cylinder engines get over 22mpg combined so it's not that bad.
