Genesis Essentia Concept Moves Towards Production - How Much Of This Radical Design Will They Keep?

The Genesis Essentia concept wowed attendees at the 2018 New York Auto Show and, from the looks of it, it is getting closer to hitting the assembly line.

In an interview with Motor Trend, Genesis boss Manfred Fitzgerald revealed the company is already working on a production variant as they’re currently validating its chassis. The executive went on to say they’re trying to get the “powertrain equation right and defining which way we want to go with it.”

It's stupid looking, as most concept cars are. While there are some styling cues that might be worth merging into a production car, there's too many real-world issues that must be addressed with a street-legal production car.

Is this the Genesis Carp as the front end looks like a fish. I think Genesis has has some decent designs with their sedans but this thing is a mess. When you factor in that they have launched the first Genesis sedan 10 years ago and still have ZERO SUVs available to buy, it makes you wonder why they even exist. They have been promising an SUV for 5 years now and at best we may see one on dealer lots in late 2020....that would be Hyundai lots since Genesis does not want to have their own dealerships.

I am sure a 38" tall (short!) car with a transparent bubble top that allows the cockpit temperature to rise to above 150 degrees F. in the sun will be placed into production.

Is Genesis planing to build Go Karts or real automobiles?

Now - imagine what it will look like with real Side Mirrors on it - which right now are required.

Genesis may need a Halo car to bring it to the attention of the Public - but this one is not going to do the job.

I don't know who was "wowed" by this, but it certainly wouldn't have been me. Looks like a concept from the 60's for future cars.
