I dunno, pricing wise this thing starts to make the model S look like a bargain. Sure it handles better, but all the average consumer cares about is straight line acceleration/pick up on the highway which the model S beats or matches the Taycan in.

Just don’t know if I’d be willing to pay almost 100k more for better handling...and less range....not to mention the next model S is in the works so I’d probably wait

Except for range which is kinda the point of it any way and acceleration LOL

And again the new car can partly keep up with a car that’s been out since 2012...no bueno

Looks good but I’m kinda disappointed... Super expensive, no more range than the Tesla, not any faster, not any bigger. The interior is cool and I’m sure the build quality will be better but for the most part it looks like the S is safe for now.

100 miles less range than the Tesla

Sweet ride but $150k to start and $185k for the Turbo S. Jeez. And that's without options.

That's WAY more expensive than I expected.

I think Porsche priced it out of the sweet spot. Time will tell.

I agree a $150K base price for the Taycan Turbo and $185K base price for Taycan Turbo S is far too high.

I just priced a Tesla Model S Performance loaded with all options and most expensive exterior, interior and rim combination for $113,990. 0-60 mph in 2.4 seconds, 345 mile range and a unique look given the expensive paint, interior and rim options.

I know Porsche has its enthusiasts and followers but the performance above for $113,990 isn't going to convince a lot of prospective Tesla Model S buyers to magically fork over another $36,000 - $71,000 for the Porsche badge.

Well, they decided to start with the highest priced trim levels, and these prices are identical to the 911 at the same trim levels. There will be lower priced trim levels in the future, but I doubt it will ever drop below $100k. This isn't so much a Model S competitor as a perfectly acceptable EV version of a Porsche. Everything I've read so far indicates it is a Porsche first and foremost. The fact it's an EV is immaterial. And for the target audience, that's more than acceptable.

I agree but your assumption proves the Model S and Taycan Turbo are not going after the same buyer, which I agree they aren't. Therefore Tesla shouldn't be afraid of the Taycan - it's a much higher price. Tesla should be a lot more afraid of the Audi e-Tron, Mercedes-Benz MQB, whatever BMW launches along with the Audi, MB and BMW all-EV sedans that will be out over the next 1-3 years.

Impressed with the size of the front brake caliper. Thing is huge... or it could just be the pic.

Looks amazing!! Porsche still has to reveal the specs on the regular Taycan and Taycan S this fall sp those should be around 85k and higher with longer range. Cant wait1

It's ok.. I'd prefer Panamera

Funny how designer wants to integrate headlight with front wheel vent inlet and ends up looking like the new Supra. That move is not pretty.

Its called the Taycan Turbo but it doesn't have a turbo.

We know the Taycan Turbo and Turbo S outhandle the Tesla Model S and the Turbo S accelerates about as fast (the real test figures will likely match the Model S) but Porsche priced itself out of the market.

Remember, the $150K and $185K prices are BEFORE options, which we know Porsche loves to charge insane amounts for. So you'll match the Tesla Model S insane mode acceleration but it will cost 80%- 100% more in the Taycan Turbo S.

The 100 mile lower range doesn't help Porsche either.

The price is far too high given what Tesla's Model S can achieve in terms of acceleration and range for $100K less.

Porsche will likely launch a regular Taycan and Taycan S in the $100K -$120K price range but those will have much slower acceleration and who knows what type of range.

The price is shockingly high and disappointing.

A $150K base price for the Taycan Turbo and $185K base price for Taycan Turbo S is far too high to convince potential Tesla Model S customers to switch.

I just priced a Tesla Model S Performance loaded with all options and most expensive exterior, interior and rim combination for $113,990. 0-60 mph in 2.4 seconds, 345 mile range and a unique look given the expensive paint, interior and rim options.

"...looks like the S is safe for now." LOL!

The Model S is already a dead model. Sales are already non-existent because the 3 killed it.

It’s exactly what I said it would be. Not as much range as Tesla. Even my $49k Model 3 gets 325 miles range EPA.

And...

It is priced exactly what I said it would be- stratospheric starting at $151k before and options AND before DEALER MARKUP. You can expect a dealer markup of $30k minimum meaning you are not going to actually get one on your driveway with any options for anything less than $200,000. And that’s just the Turbo. The Turbo S is looking at likely $250,000 minimum in your driveway.

This is not going to hurt Tesla.

This car will put the nails in the coffin for the S and the X. Which leaves Tesla with the unprofitable 3.

And then we get to see the other models coming out as part of VW's $30+ billion electric effort. Bye bye, Tesla.

The Taycan won't put the nail in the Model S and X's coffin (since it's at least $40K more similarly equipped) but the other EVs from Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW most likely will.

The Porsche Taycan is not competing with the Tesla Model S based on price considering the Model S offers 0-60 in 2.4 seconds and 345 mile range for $114K while the Porsche Taycan Turbo S offers 0-60 in 2.6 seconds and 245 mile range for $190K. That's $76K more for the Porsche Taycan Turbo S - not exactly the same buyer market.

THis car is basically what I expected to come from Porsche. Porsche is a true Prestigious Premium Brand - Tesla is not. They sell to different Customers - and people who buy at this level would not be caught dead in the wannabe.

I never expected the Tesla killer to come from Porsche - that will come from a true Mass producer - or several of them. Certainly most can do a better interior than the Model 3. However - what will kill Tesla remains its no-negotiating sales model. THAT works when there is not another to compare - but when two brands are in play - and only one can really compete on price - the other is dead meat.

Nice car. Great design. Happy to see more serious EV product hit the market. The specs for the price is disappointing though. There goes your Tesla killer argument!

Biggest disapointment for me is the styling is not true to the prototype. I could over look a lot of things, but not when it looks like this and priced sky high. Give me the Tesla Model S

Simply magnificent. Bit $150K is $50K too high.

People who are defending Porsche's sticker prices are all sounding like a broken record and using the poor excuses like -prestige; build quality; mass producer; it's Porsche; etc. Yes, they are all those things, but they are also charging an arm and a leg more which doesn't equate to the cars being that much better. You know what you can get for 200k from Tesla? A Tesla Roadster - And that shit will blow the Porsche out of the water in terms of performance and really that's what all you Porschefiles are going on with. I'm neither a Tesla fan or Porsche fan; I just love cars in general. There's such a big gap in price difference and too much similarities to the Porsche Panamera, that in IMO, will not get current people to turn their heads. From the rear, it looks just like any Porsches. From the front, it does distinguish itself a bit more. My two cents.

Remember the 2 model Taycan models coming out now are the 2 top of the line. They are the most powerful and most expensive. Their base model will be under 100K. It will be interesting to see what you get. Further will they have a longer range. The range is the only trump card Tesla has right now over the Taycan. In every other way the Taycan looks to be a better vehicle. Better looking inside and out, better built similar performance, probably better handling, quicker charging etc.

I expected 500 miles range with 80% recharge in 20 minutes. Did Porsche deliver?
