Consumer Reports Claims State Fees May Make It More Expensive To Drive Electric Than Gas
 
While many states are looking into imposing fees on electrified vehicles to boost transportation revenue, a Consumer Reports analysis released Wednesday found that such fees cost EV drivers more than traditional vehicle drivers pay.

State legislators see annual fees on hybrid and electric vehicles as a way to offset gasoline tax revenue lost from having more of those vehicles on the road. Hybrid and EV drivers pay the fees in addition to registration fees they already pay.

This is a great example of some of the backward thinking in America. In stark contrast, China is making it extremely costly and a royal pain to own. license and drive (days of use are restricted) a petrol powered car. Which strategy makes the most sense in the long run? Equal taxation is fine, excess is stupid. Just like the loop hole that allows you to sell an AR-15 or any other gun across your kitchen table to a nut job, this tax strategy makes absolutely no sense. #crazy
