Isn't this the same reason GM went bankrupt in the first place? Saddled with ridiculous healthcare, pension and wage costs? These guys never learn.

Oh they have learned. GM has moved most of SUV and Crossover production out of the US, thus making the core of its sales strike proof. Who cares if a plant strikes when there is a 150 day supply of what they make in the pipeline already?

The strike essentially takes the place of a layoff.

We all hate the UAW because they’ve destroyed the GM of the 50’s-70’s. In the 80’s the UAW got even more contentious and bankruptcy was the legacy. How many vehicle names were being made in 1990 that were gone by 2008? GM could not make competitive vehicles and make money So they dropped out and focused only where they could make money. I personally loved the cars they used to make and very much want a healthy and strong GM. They must kill the UAW and to do that they will move everything out of the USA. The UAW is to blame and many of the worthless, arrogant employees who feel entitled. I’m no fan of GM Sr Mgt in any way, nor would I buy anything they make, except the New Vette, but the writing is on the wall for the UAW.

The workers are the morons here. The need to refuse to strike.
