GM Pressures UAW By Shifting Healthcare Costs Of 48,000 Strikers To Union
General Motors Co  shifted health insurance costs for its striking workers to the United Auto Workers union as its members walked the picket line for the second day on Tuesday.

The UAW on Monday launched the first company-wide strike at GM in 12 years, saying negotiations toward a new national agreement covering about 48,000 hourly workers had hit an impasse.

It seems the UAW is no longer the power they once were. I think the rank and file workers are going to get a rude awakening

They've seen brainwashed that the union is their savior rather than the truth that the UAW is a blood sucker.

Genuinely surprised by the lack of compassion for workers running all through this website.

I suppose you all will say its the UAW you hate, not the workers. A distinction which effective lacks any difference in the real world. I'm guessing its a class thing.

Not a lack of compassion for workers, but a definite disgust with the UAW.

Employer based health care insurance is a burden on US businesses that businesses in every other developed countries does not have.

And they don’t have our freedom or Constitution. Funny how some see America as a Disneyland where everything is perfect and free. You remind me of a phrase John Wayne said, “Life’s hard but it’s harder if you’re stupid.”

Health benefits used to be a carrot given by companies to attract and retain great employees, but now it’s considered an entitlement. I’ve paid my own for 20 years until ObuttFace Care made it astronomically expensive. I personally think the Government should get out of this entirely.

Compassion, seriously? GM is doing exactly what it needs to do here. Their announcement that coverage was now under the UAW Cobra was well executed and it will drain UAW resources (that they would prefer to spend on themselves or DemonRat politicians) but hey they expect either GM or the UAW to coddle them. I don’t think this is going to end well for either the employees or the union. They should have accepted GMs offer and moved on. The UAW needs to die as its a serious problem in a globally competitive market. They have jobs today but doubtful in 10 years...

I think you would be surprised at some of the freedoms people have in other countries. Having lived in multiple countries including Germany and Czech Republic.... never mind you probably wouldn't believe it anyways. Ignorance is bliss I suppose.
