Tesla's Taycan Killing Model S Plaid Will Be Ready For Your Driveway In About A Year
Elon Musk says the production Tesla Model S Plaid will seat 7, crush the Porsche Taycan on the Nurburgring and feature larger rear seats.

This comes just after the news of the Model S Plaid beating the Taycan on the Ring. According to Musk, the updated Model S Plaid will go into production around October or November of next year. The production version is expected to be even faster than the prototypes we keep seeing out on the 'Ring.

Unlike other companies, so far Tesla has delivered better cars than the prototypes they unveiled. The production S, X, and 3 all beat initial performance and range while improving the design. I would expect the Plaid S to be even better than this.

EVERY car company delivers better cars than there prototypes, that is why they are prototypes.

Prototypes are usually aspirational designs (like the Model E with no B pillar) that get watered down before making their way to production. Look at any concept car.

No that is a concept vehicle, a prototype vehicle is used for preproduction testing to work out short, long, and environmental issues.

Ok, fair distinction between concept and prototype. Tesla's concept cars were brought to reality. They have never shown a car that was not actually intended for the road at some point in the nearish future. The Mission E concept car is still way cooler than the Taycan.

No thanks. Still prefer the Taycan.

Free solar panels with every Model S "PLAID" purchase.

Kind of like getting a toaster when you open a new bank account.

Read this thing was ripping past sports cars with 600+ hp. Wow. Must be making at least 850 hp.

There's no way the Taycan can make up the 20 second per lap difference. No way.

The 20 second difference is completely unofficial and not unlike previous Elon overpromise. The Taycan looks like a far and away better car than the Tesla. So,hyperbolic Elon had to make up something. The Seneca record is unofficial too.
The Tesla brand is fading.

Think there is way and Porsche will respond. They are now committed to this. We have yet to see what the Austin Martin Rapide E will do, albeit with a smaller battery, RWD and less power at this point, but it will not be a slouch.

You're diluted if you seriously believe that. I'm pretty sure you don't.

If you strip out the entire interior, add an extra motor, add a wider track, special race tires, and hire a race car driver, yeah the Taycan could probably make that difference up.

Interior wasn't stripped, had 3 more seats than the Taycan in fact.

FYI, Porsche used the Taycan Turbo on the track and not the Turbo S, still goes to show Porsche still can use the Turbo S and beat the ugly Tesla Plaid.
