Taycan Shows No Remorse As It Effortlessly Laps A Broken Down Model S On The Nurburgring
The rivalry between veteran electric automaker Tesla and newcomer Porsche is heating up as both cars fight to be king of the Nurburgring, but it's safe to say that the former's efforts aren't going exactly as expected.

While undergoing Industry Pool testing on Wednesday, a Tesla Model S prototype found itself immobile on the side of the track due to an unknown failure. And just when things couldn't seem to get any worse—Porsche capitalized on the opportunity to rub salt in the Tesla's wounds by having its Taycan glide past the disabled Tesla as it was loaded onto a flatbed truck.

This is the best metaphor for the relationship between these two vehicles.
The Elon fanboys will be quiet today.

Except for the fact that it beat the Taycan by 20 seconds with even better times to come next month. Weren't people here saying a Model S couldn't complete a whole lap? By the time Tesla is done with this new variant, I will best the Taycan in every meaningful metric. Taycan is still an impressive car though.

Prove that it didn't, no one including Porsche is denying Tesla's time.

Better still: Prove that it was a stock Model S because that is impossible to do and I'd love to see you back pedal.

It was not a stock Model S, but you better believe Porsche is going to up their game knowing this is coming down the pipeline.

Tesla is forcing Porsche to up the ante and create a Taycan that will best any ICE car that they have. It's going to get real next year...

If I did work at Tesla, it would be better than selling used cars down by the river.

In other news Tesla is making statements about coming back to the ring in October and trying to crack 7:05. Maybe there will be a V.20 of the Plaid Model S to try out. Hopefully they will add ceramic brakes to the package. 5,000+ lbs flying around the Ring needs adequate stopping power.

LMAO, just another reason I would take the Taycan all day long.

How funny that a crane needs to be used to lift the Tesla onto the flatbed. I guess it would add insult to injury if the battery packs got scratched and the thing burst into flames - which is probably a high possibility anyway for a Tesla.

Sidebar note - I'm also amused that the Nurburgring support vehicle is a Dodge Ram pickup truck! Guess, they need a 'Hemi?

Our local Tesla center has a fleet of Ford F350 duallies to haul their cars around lol.

Ironic, yes.

When lifting it up on the crane, the tires look massive. That must be why the sills around the wheels were added to the prototype. I'm not a fan of that look, hopefully they will find a better solution before the final version.

This isn't even remotely a real production Tesla.

You're probably right, but I don't think the production model will be any slower.

The tires and wheels on the prototype will also impact range in a negative way, hopefully the 3-motor design can overcome that or they put in a massive battery like the Roadster.

There won't be a production model.
This is Elon reacting to his ego getting bitch slapped by Porsche.
Do not make claims about time around the ring until it is official.

Of course there will be a production model. They've had the plaid powertrain for 3 years now since the first Roadster prototype.
