GM Layoffs 700 More Canadian Workers Due To UAW Strike

Hundreds more General Motors Canada employees have been temporarily laid off due to the ongoing UAW strike against GM.

About 700 workers of the 1,100 at the St. Catharines, Ont., Propulsion Plant have been told to stay home this week. The V8 and V6 engines they build and export to the United States aren’t needed because 46,000 UAW members struck the automaker’s U.S. operations.

It's all pretty sad. The Oshawa plant has been there for 100+ years. And it has been recognized as the highest scoring plant for quality and productivity. It deserves a new product mandate. Hopefully it will have a new life making buses for the Chinese if they can be wooed back.

This Huawei issue needs to be resolved for any new investment to happen. The CFO needs to have charges against her dropped, be sent home and the world needs to ignore the USA in the future when it tries to impose sanctions on other countries who decide to do business with a given 3rd party country. It all sounds crazy but that is what is at the core of that issue.

No at issue is the LAW and we have an extradition agreement with the Yanks (you know our biggest trade partner and ally) and other governments to do such.

Had the "spoiled bitch" landed in Mexico instead the beaners would have had to arrest her and hold for the US except she would not be allowed to stay in her Vancouver luxury mansion on "house arrest" like she is doing now -unlike the 2 poor Canadians being held in squalor like conditions in China on bogus espionage charges. She should be held in similar conditions until they are released and ALL Huawei products banned until it gets resolved. The only thing China respects is power and Justin "BlackFace" Trudeau doesn't have any balls or brains for that matter. Lets vote this moron out of a job next month!!!

@QEW - The extradition treaty you mention is a good law enforcement tool for real criminals who break the law, organized crime members etc. Huawei is in trouble because the USA decided unilaterally to sanction ANY country who does business with Iran.

If the USA doesn't want to do business with Iran that is just fine, but they should not be able to make laws for other countries nor should they be allowed to charge people if they unilateral laws are broken. It is a farce. The extradition treaty should not have been allowed to be used in this case. There is now law on the books that was broken.
