It Might Be Legal But Would You Transport Your Kids This Way?

It Might Be Legal But Would You Transport Your Kids This Way?
It's a threat every parent has made at least once: If you don't pipe down back there, I'll make you ride home on the roof. A viral video from earlier this month appeared to show one pickup driver in Kansas make good on the promise, hauling down the highway with two young kids strapped to rear-facing car seats in the bed, wind and road noise blissfully drowning out their complaints over not stopping at McDonalds. A bit shocking, yes—but a closer look reveals those are no ordinary car seats, and the whole scene is in fact perfectly legal.

Nope - there are idiots all over the world and seeing them in "seats" is a lot better than seeing dozen kids back there in the bed on a dirt road somewhere on a safari.- It is not unusual to see this type thing on a farm - especially during hay season. But - I would not do that at highway speeds on Public roads with the kids in my family.

But when you think about it - who is safer - these kids - or a Driver and mechanic In a small Convertible sports car on a road race - 75 years ago before even seat belts.?

While there are a lot of tough takers on this thread I bet nobody would be stupid enough to let there own kids ride in the bed of a truck like this EVER.

These seats are designed and federally approved for this use. There's nothing wrong with riding in the bed of a pickup if the weather is nice. I did it many times as a kid. This particular picture shows them on the freeway, which I might not do myself. But in-town I see no problem.

No worse than six of us without seat belts in the back of dad's station wagon.

These look like federally approved adult seats. Not child seats.

Years ago, I had a Suburu Brat mini truck that had two factory seats reverse mounded in the cargo box.
