Dyson Inspired EV Motorcycle May Make You Want To Trade In That Sport Bike You Have
It’s been almost 10 years since James Dyson’s consumer electronics company first introduced its bladeless fan! Known as the Dyson Air Multiplier, it shook up the tech world with its unusual characteristic: it did not have any visible blades. The impact felt by this innovation is being felt even today, as seen in Saharudin Busri’s Dyson Inspired Concept Motorcycle. Though it is still a concept, it did incite a tangible excitement when we first got a glimpse of the design! Mimicking Dyson’s bladeless fan, Busri decided to remove the spokes of the wheel from his bike, leaving the center of the wheel completely hollow. An added homage to Dyson would be the fact that the engine is also inspired by the aesthetics of the motor we see in most of their vacuum cleaners such as the latest V11 model.

Makes me think more Tron than Tyson. But no, it looks uncomfortable as all get out. Not something I'd be remotely interested in. And I still have my MC endorsement, even though I haven't owned a bike for 30 years. Some things are just too hard to give up.

There is a fully developed electric motorcycle on the market, "Zero".

https://www.zeromotorcycles.com/

They are offering huge discounts on leftover inventory so perhaps it is not a sales success.

The problem with an electric motorcycle compared to a car is that with a car you have somewhere to sit, out of the elements, usually with the ability to run the HVAC and stay comfortable while it charges. With a bike, unless there's somewhere near the charging station you can go you're stuck outdoors. Yes, being outdoors is part of the enjoyment of riding a bike. Sitting while it's charging, not so much. And so far e-motorcycles can't come close to almost any of the current EVs in range.

I tried out a Zero - it has all the excitement of a fast NYC battery-powered take-out food delivery bike. I have been a rider since I was 20 yrs old and I realized riding the Zero, that when the mechanical sensations of motorcycling are absent, that the riding experience is about the interplay of the rider, the machine, and the environment.

Riding a Zero was like trying to play a piano wearing mittens.

Is that a new fangeled vacuum cleaner or a bike?

When's Dyson gonna ditch that outdated design language?
