What's Your FAVORITE Memory Car? If YOU Could Turn Time Back, What Would It Be And WHY?
Today, Agent 001 and I were catching up. I couldn't help but show him the low mileage 1997 Acura Integra Type R that sold for a staggering $82,000.

It's completely mental.

He had a great response. Essentially, he wagered, it was someone's dream ride before they hit it big. It could have been a tech employee who's company IPO'd or was acquired, or an investor that crushed it in the stock market. Ultimately, who knows?

This is when Agent 001 introduced me to the term he coined called a "memory car."

For some people it's the car they had a poster on their wall (e.g., the Lamborghini Countach or Ferrari Testarossa). For others it could be the vehicle they had where they made a great memory. Perhaps a first kiss or what they drove away after taking their significant other down the aisle and saying "I do."

Having said that, we wanted to ask you, Spies: What's YOUR favorite "memory car?" IF you could turn time back, what auto would it be and WHY?

Growing up, my dream car was a Jensen Interceptor and I am fortunate to own one.

I also dreamt of the Lamborghini Islero and although I do not own one, I have a friend who does and I have driven his.

That said, a person's dream car may not stand up to scrutiny. As for the Acura Integra Type R, the Subaru BRZ (which is SLOW) is as fast to 60 and likely handles better. Just get a GTi for $30K

My first car was a 1939 Chevy Master DELUXE

WHen I became old enough to drive - having a car at my age was something far more special than it is today. This car eventually became my Wedding car - as well as the likely place where my Triplets( and later my twins) were conceived.

The push button radio in it took about 15 minutes to warm up enough to play in cold weather. Eventually - I sold it to my neighbor for $10. ANd he drove it -kept it up (I helped) until last year when he died. THe car is in now HIS son's driveway -and still runs is registered and insured. ANd he won't give it up.

I suppose I could add that Mercedes 450SEL6.9 as something special - but this car was a part of the family for too long to overlook.

Your last one is up there on my list, my favorite “memory car” happens to be a 2006 S 65 AMG V12 which introduced me to the German autobahn in high school while staying with a host family that just took delivery of a brand new one.

At that time it was the most powerful sedan in the world and here I was being offered a go in it by my German host family’s father on the legendary autobahn. I reached the other side of 150mph and it took everything in my power not to ruin my jeans and their new Benz with the piss that cars torque nearly knocked out of me.

That car violated me in the best way and I just remember thinking how did that big ass car do wat it just did defying physics

1960 MGA. My dad knew I was car crazy at an early age. He told me when I started high school that whatever I could save delivering papers, cutting lawns, shoveling snow, etc. during the next four years he would match so I could buy my first car. $800 saved, $800 matched and an MGA was mine. Dad was always working and there was no one around to teach me to drive stick. I would count the minutes in class until the school day was over running home and teaching myself how to use a clutch and gearshift. Boy was I one happy kid!

1st generation BMW M6 - beautiful classic lines, more than decent handling, and a beautiful and powerful motor.

Likely a 928S4 from the mid eighties. Rebecca de Mornay made quite the impression on my 18yr old self.

My uncle let me drive his 1975 Corvette as a teenager. I still remember the view over the long hood with the fenders rising up. The responsiveness of that car got me hooked on cars.
Beyond that, a Lamborghini Miura and Toyota 2000 GT.

Certainly the E30 BMW M3 is top of the list, and any '87+ Porsches 944 Turbo is in second place. I bought my 13 year old son a E30 BMW 318is to tinker with in the hopes of getting that vintage BMW love into his veins. If the A/C blew just a bit colder it would be a decent daily driver, but that poor little 4-banger just can't keep the car cool enough for 90+ days.

The air conditioner is not dependent on the engine. More than likely the air conditioning was never amazing in the first place--old German cars tend not to have "American cold" air conditioning--and or the system on the car is compromised. It would likely cost too much to remedy.

Funny the picture is spot on 3.0 CSL golf yellow... I owned one in the mid 80s when I was stationed in Germany. Driving well over 100mph (180+kph) for long stretched on the autobahn and going to so many interesting places cemented that car and it's companion and 1802 for my memory car.
