Barely On The Market And The Aviator Is Already Having Some SERIOUS Issues

With just 1,899 Lincoln Aviator luxury SUVs sold since their debut in August, some owners report problems ranging from the emergency brake unexpectedly taking hold while they are driving to passenger-assist alarms going off randomly and a dashboard screen that scrambles information.

“When you get in, the speedometer and tachometer kind of goes berserk,” said Jake Fisher, director of auto testing at Consumer Reports. “While driving, all of a sudden the digital gauge cluster seems to be having huge problems. For the first couple of miles, it’s hard to see what you’re doing.”

FORD quality at its best. This suv looked very promising but issues like this will keep me away.

I think everyone was rooting for Ford too, hopefully Chevy doesn’t have any issues with the Vette given how everyone is rooting for it, come on America, get your ish together we’ve been making cars for over a century

Maybe if they will sell it for less than $50K I would consider it or wait two years and you could get one for around $25 to 30K.

A lot of them are 65k on up on dealer lots here. Might as well just buy an X5

Computer gremlins are the absolute bane of any car or truck owner.

It is not unusual for a completely new Platform car to have early production problems. ANd today - electrical/computer problems are now the leading problem for them. Jeep is a great example of jus that happening - although often these problems are solved with just a reflash of the computer. When I bought My Chrysler Mini-van - it had two problems - 1 - the front rotors had too much run-out - causing vibrations - which is a "luck" situation - ANd it had a problem closing one air-conditioning door - which required a reflash of the computer to let it happen slower and a little delayed - I have had no problems since.

My brother has a new Explorer - and it has been rock solid from FORD - a bad tire cannot be blamed on FORD although it should not have passed through PREP. THis Lincoln is essentially the same vehicle - and I expect these early problems will be quickly dispatched through computer updates. WHich is why I always recommend you buy a really NEW platform car at least 6 months into the run - or maybe the second year. By then - they are fixing the stupid little problems.

When things look too good to be true....

such a shame. This car looked like it could be the catalyst of the resurgence of American luxury. Instead, it's a reminder of American dependability, and not in a good way.

To be honest I really really like the new looks of the Aviator!

What a shame because Lincoln had nailed the looks.

Glad I did not bite on the Aviator! Hope the Corsair is more reliable at the start!

Cadillac XT6 is not quite as sexy, but its cheaper, its handsome in its own way, and it won't have the quality problems. I've seen many on the road and the XT6 is handsome (admittedly in a sea of really ugly SUV's).

Lincoln may still be having problems but the XT6 just can’t compare to the Aviator in looks alone.

If you have a Costco card, Cadillac has an agreement with them and you can get up to $6,000 off an XT6
