We’re closing in on the three-month anniversary of the 2020 Chevy Corvette reveal from July. We’ve learned a lot about the car since – performance, price, standard and optional equipment. But we’re still discovering new features. Matt Farah of The Smoking Tire fame tweeted yesterday the new mid-engine Corvette pumps fake engine noise through the cabin speakers. We’ve reached out to Chevrolet about the feature and will update the story when we hear back.

While totally against this trend governments around the world are implementing stronger noise regulations and manufacturers feel compelled to augment sound to satisfy aural pleasure of enthusiasts. Having said that I have not heard a system yet that doesn't sound phony, unnatural.

Gee - next thing you know - they might start using those speakers for MUSIC in the cockpit! And it will cover up some of the engine "NOISE"?

I don't think that most new Corvette owners are going to care over the Glare of their smile!

I like the opposite idea, use the EXTERNAL noisemaker speakers in EVs for music, custom horns, or to talk to people outside the car. There might be some value for them yet.
