Infiniti's Ship Is Sinking - If You Were In Charge Of The Luxury Brand What Would You Do To Turn It Around?
It’s not a good time for Infiniti. The company’s lineup has received little praise from critics, its headquarters is now back in Japan after a confounding (Johan-directed) move to Hong Kong and—worst of all—it is getting absolutely creamed in the U.S. And with European operations already abandoned, it’s hard to see how the brand is going to turn itself around.

Make the next GTR The Infiniti GTR and price it like a Corvette. Create a gorgeous Model S competitor and call it the Skyline. Create a Porsche Macan competitor call it Dangan and price it well below the Porsche (-30%). Build an X7 competitor (-30% in price), make it beyond luxurious and call it the Infiniti Zen. Build gorgeous products and give them names that evocative in some way to Japan. But price them like Buicks.

Get rid of the QX30. Bring back the FX. Redesign the Q70, Q50, QX60, QX80 for 21MY. Bring in smaller sedan below Q50. Make a Q60 that competes with M4, C63S, RS5.

The FX was nicknamed the shoe. From the side it looked like an old well worn steel-toed work boot. Two box design with a strange bump in the front. Infinity lost its way almost from the start with those strange ads. Kill it.

What about, folding Infiniti and put all the focus/research on making Nissan the best it could be.

Nah, Infiniti can definitely stay. The luxury brand just kinda needs to chill on sedans & focus on SUV's big & small. The QX80 interior update just uses the old-azz dual-screen setup the cars had been using for years now. It's better than what it had before but there's no leap-frog into the newest types of infotainment systems. Infiniti is missing a good mid-size CUV - they need to update the QX70 last year & offer both V6 & V8 versions.

Kill it. The brand is confused and its identity continues to disappear with each new model.

I had to say kill it too. It had few nice models in the past and I do think they are capable of making great cars but the fact is Nissan is not in good shape either. It takes many factors to make a true luxury brand.

Acura is probably not much better but at least it had Honda to back it up.

Lexus obviously won the battle from that era.

Infiniti is too far gone to rescue realistically despite the possibilities.

I remember back in the late 90s I bought the 1999 Infiniti QX4 then 2004 G35 Coupe... I thought back then Infiniti had so much potential but now not sure...

Infiniti is part of Nissan. No wonder it is failing.
