Porsche Wants Comparisons Of Taycan To The Model S To Stop Because It Wasn't a Factor - Well Then What Was?
Porsche CEO Oliver Blume says that he doesn’t like the “Tesla comparison,” and that Model S wasn’t a factor in the development of the Taycan, despite the fact that they benchmarked it against Tesla’s flagship sedan.

In a new interview with Auto Motor und Sport, Blume was asked if “Porsche will be cooler than Tesla,” and he said (translated from German):

I prefer to compare Porsche with Porsche. We will always be a bit cooler.

Exactly, Tesla will NEVER be at the same level as prestige as Porsche.

Perhaps, but it will get close: https://autowise.com/tesla/

Porsche is Porsche and they have Audi and VW as well in the group. Tesla has to cover the same territory as all three of those brands, so there will always be some extra exclusivity with Porsche.

Know your market and execute perfectly for it. Competition should be considered in development but ultimately you set your own principles and let marketing sell it. The engineering focus for the Tesla and the Taycan are quite different. Performance is only one criteria for buyers. Brand, fit & finish, performance (absolute & reliability) and service are major factors in a car choice.

One should be able to tell after a drive in a slower Porsche and a faster Tesla. Feel and comfort are not easily conveyed in specs and reviews.

If they wanted to make the Porsche of BEV sedans they have. In my view they did to aim high enough. It should have been much faster and quicker than the Model S P100D and the Turbo S just keeps pace with it. Lesser Taycans like the 4S and S and base will have far less power than the Turbo/Turbo S. It will be up to Porsche to justify the value these lesser cars offer when they are slower than the lesser Model S offerings.

That Model S also broke the 4-door record lap time.

"That Model S also broke the 4-door record lap time."

No, it didn't absolutley nothing offical. Just a rumor about a gut hand timing.

Porsche can't claim an official time with a stock car either, so it is almost a fair analogy.
