NAME and SHAME! WHICH Iconic Vehicles Have Lost The MOST Cachet In 2019?
We've just entered the fourth quarter in 2019 and this year continues to get more interesting. Clearly, sport-utility vehicles and trucks are still dominating consumer interest. Knowing this, it got our gears turning.

If SUVs and trucks are on the upswing, what's being impacted the most?

Duh. Sedans. But, rather than paint broad strokes, we wanted to get a bit more precise.

We'd love to hear what the Spies think about this situation. That said, can YOU weigh in and let us know which iconic vehicles have lost the MOST cachet in 2019?

THINK of the autos that serve as the bedrock for the industry. Then, NAME and SHAME!

The Toyota Land Cruiser and even the LX570 do not trade in cachet. They are the below the radar choice for folks who would not be caught dead in a G-Wagon, Range Rover, Merc GLS or an Escalade. You didn't notice it in the driveway or on the road. The NBA starting centre is rich, the owner who signs his check has wealth.

Are you taking some creative license from Chris Rock's stand up bit talking about Shaq and the NBA team owners? ;)

@Agent00R - I know. What I don't know is why Toyota designs a 4Runner that a guy like me at 5'5" can drive and reach the pedals comfortably, but I can't drive a Land Cruiser as the seats are like thrones and my feet are 8-12" from the pedals.

agree 100% with Canadian. LandCruisers are timeless, not subject to ins and outs of popularity. People who know, buy it for what is does and how it is made, not for what is says out loud.

I don't know many folks spending $85K for a Land Cruiser when they can get the same roominess and *seemingly* the same luxury experience for $50K.

And, people are starting to realize that these high priced autos aren't exactly worth it...

@canadian...nailed it on the head. Not everyone who has money wants to show off and attract attention. The Land Cruiser/LX is the best built vehicle on this planet period. There are people who appreciate that, are willing to pay for it, and don't care about what the neighbors or the snobs in the pickup line at school think.

@00R, I hope you aren't referring to the Kia Telluride. The Telluride is a great vehicle, but it is not comparable to the Land Cruiser/LX in terms of off road capabilities and build quality (whether or not most buyers use those features is not the point, the fact is that they are there).

I never said it was close in terms of off-road ability.

What folks are looking for is space, technology and some luxury accoutrements. And, the Telluride delivers on all of those fronts without the mega price tag.

How many folks are off-roading their Land Cruisers?

Answer: NOT MANY.

They're doing school runs. Be serious.

To answer the question, the vehicles losing the most cachet (and sales) are midsize and large luxury sedans. Sales of these are in a downward spiral, and even the S class will bleed sales with the release of the the new GLS which is as nice inside as the S class.

Without question - the BMW 3-Series.

It's big fall - after decades of being revered - is epic.
