Have AVs And EVs Made Driving LESS Safe And Gas Prices RISE? President Donald Trump Thinks So.

Have AVs And EVs Made Driving LESS Safe And Gas Prices RISE? President Donald Trump Thinks So.
If there's one thing we can be certain of, it's this. President Donald Trump is not for the faint of heart.

His opinions and points of view are strong and definitely follow the guidelines of "take no prisoner." With everything going on around the supposed Ukrainian scandal, one recent tweet seemed to fly under the radar.

Well, let's see if we can change that.

A tweet posted yesterday seemed to imply that the development of autonomous vehicles and electric vehicles are actually driving the price of fuel up. It's tough to know exactly what he was referring to as he tends to speak in a vague manner but we suspect he's drawing a correlation between California's latest fuel efficiency mandates.

Keep in mind: Trump is currently dealing with California, which is trying to sidestep the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) by imposing stricter gas mileage and carbon emission standards in partnership with Ford, Honda, BMW and Volkswagen. That MIGHT have something to do with it.

Having said that, I've got to ask: Do you think Trump is onto something? Or, is this just another tweet with little substance?

You have to ask 00R? Really? If you knew anything about cars you wouldn't have to ask.

As his tweets clearly illustrate, Trump is totally clueless about modern cars and only an automotive ignoramus would take any stock in what he says.

Trump knows how to rattle cages to make people look stupid. The histrionic Alt-Left will CTRL + V spew shit right and left over this and in the process they will look moronic, hateful, and psychotic. Time for popcorn.

He is vague because he seldom knows what he is talking about.
it was moronic to abandon the Kurds. It was moronic to ask China to publicly ask China to investigate Biden. His campaign/nazi rally in Minneapolis was crude and stupid. He keeps repeating the same make up BS knowing his uneducated base will eat it up because they are emotion driven versus intellectually - thus the faux rage.
Oh, and check out this article showing data - I know how you tRumpeteers hate facts and data - saying essentially that the economy performed better under Obama's last 4 years than tRump's 2.5. They trade deficit and budget deficit have both grown - alot. https://www.businessinsider.com/9-charts-comparing-trump-economy-to-obama-bush-administrations-2019-9

Change is coming to America.. Don't sweat the tweet. It will all be over soon enough...

If you wake up and don't want to smile
If it takes just a little while
Open your eyes and look at the day
You'll see things in a different way
Don't stop thinking about tomorrow
Don't stop, it'll soon be here
It'll be, better than before
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone
Why not think about times to come?
And not about the things that you've done
If your life was bad to you
Just think what tomorrow will do
Don't stop thinking about tomorrow
Don't stop, it'll soon be here
It'll be, better than before,
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone
All I want is to see you smile
If it takes just a little while
I know you don't believe that it's true
I never meant any harm to you
Don't stop thinking about tomorrow
Don't stop, it'll soon be here
It'll be, better than before,
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone
Don't stop thinking about tomorrow
Don't stop, it'll soon be here
It'll be, better than before
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone
Ooh, don't you look back
Ooh, don't you look back
Ooh, don't you look back
Ooh, don't you look back

Here’s a question for you, all the left wing nut job celebrities that threaten to move to Canada if Trump got elected never followed through, they’re still here, WHY? Could it be that the so-called utopian Canada, is just another Socialist $#!+#0!e and a cold one at that. But at least they’re polite.

If demand shrinks for gas, and supply is artificially constrained, that would push prices up. I would hope Trump has at least a basic understanding of economics in that demand for EV on its own should push gas prices DOWN. If they are going up, it is for another reason.

EVs pay no cost for road repair in the form of a gasoline tax! So the more EV on the road, the more the price of gas goes up to meet the road repair budget!

@80Hoes - What does the average full size pickup truck weigh? King cab? Crew cab? Dually with 5th wheel? Stating EV's are heavy and bad is just stupid considering the number of pickup trucks on the road in North America. #stayinschool

@80Hoes- You are not following. I don't own a Land Cruiser. There are millions of Pickup trucks on the road. 6,000lbs, 8,000lbs, 10,000lbs? And nearly 1-2M new ones sold every year. It's stupid to complain about the trickle of EV's sold annually and point to that as an issue, but not the heaviest passenger vehicles on the road today. Keep trying....

Unlike the those who drive SUV's for status or worse Pickup Trucks for the same reason, my truck carries around a XL Airport crate for an 85lb dog to ride along in. As well it gets stuff with everything needed for a 24hr or 8hr MTB races or to go skiing as a group. So my life does not fit into a Nissan Leaf at the moment, nor would I buy a Model X based on looks alone. Working from home I have driven about 25,000km in the last 8 years. So not really using my truck at all like most others as I don't commute.

Just an observation you MAGA clowns seem to fawn all over the Porsche Taycan, but you crap all over any other BEV any which way you can. Kinda of strange don't you think?

Keep trying ....

Given that it appears to beta test its new features on public roads with uneducated or unknowing drivers, yes, this is correct.

If the beta product is safer than a person and net lives will be saved, then I'd argue it is the right thing to do.

Gas prices on the earth are largely Politically controlled - have less to do with supply/demand. As the middle east continues to be a political hotbed - the only thing that saves the USA is its general independence because they COULD produce enough oil for our needs - even if we do not right now - noting that the price of oil makes Fracked oil only marginally profitable.

However - as the market moves to Trucks and SUV's - these vehicle generally are less efficient than the sedans and smaller cars they are replacing - so the small amount of EVs cannot keep up with that.

Gas prices ARE indeed politically controlled which is why that fascist-communist-socialist Democrats in California have made it is gas is $2.00 a gallon more than elsewhere in the nation.

Supply and demand, plus cost of real estate are the main reasons why gas prices are high in CA. Public transit options suck and real estate is insanely expensive. Taxes are high but not dramatically different than other states besides Alaska.

California regulations require a unique blend of gasoline not used in the other states. Refineries in other states don't make it, (one or two left in CA?)thus when CA runs low they cannot merely bring in fuel from the rest of the country. They are importing from the middle east. Hence the extra cost.
