Dyson Scraps Plans To Build An EV Car

Dyson's sudden decision to scrap its $2.5 billion electric-vehicle ambitions is the latest reality check creeping into the once soaring EV industry.

The famed maker of vacuum cleaners and hair dryers couldn't find a way to make the project commercially viable, billionaire James Dyson said in a letter to staff Thursday. The announcement came about two years after the company first disclosed its plans to jump into car manufacturing.

This whole thing didn’t add up from the beginning. Singapore would be a terrible place to build cars- way expensive real estate and no broad manufacturing base to support it. Singapore is full of Finance guys and traders. The only reason I could see Dyson setting up in Singapore was for a sort of scammy financing reason or weird ideological reason known only to Dyson himself. Did not make any actual business sense.
