Late To The Party But Toyota And Lexus Will Launch Three EVs By 2021
While no more details were given on the models, a futuristic, electric Lexus concept, to be revealed next week at the Tokyo motor show, will demonstrate the technology behind the upcoming EVs ahead of production.

Very surprised at how late Toyota is to the party given their initial breakout success with the Prius. One would’ve thought they would have taken it all the way but they seemed to just ride the hybrid wave until the hype died down

There are the motors, cells, packs, modules--The last 3 of which are the "battery" It was a pretty sweet EV, too bad Toyota stopped making them.

I'd be happy with an aluminum 4Runner that did not rust. Hybrid drivetrain can be 2nd. A BEV version can be third. I see a BEV Highlander coming in next wave...

Late to the party isn't a bad thing. The EV market is tiny and by waiting, they can see the mistakes and follies of others and then swoop in with the answer.

Late to the party is good. Look what happened to Blackberry and Palm.

Toyota has been working on solid state batteries. I believe that technology is ready and now they are coming out with their products. I would not count Toyota out yet.

Indeed I would not be surprised if Toyota's EV leapfrogs the competition.

Highly unlikely, Toyota likes to play it safe.
