DRIVEN + VIDEO: The FIRST 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Reviews Are IN! Is It The SUPERCAR KILLER We Hoped It Would Be?
October 16 is the day when the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette embargo lifts for automotive reviews. Well, what's the deal?

The first few reviews have posted and rather than do individual stories for each, we decided to take a different approach. We're bringing the most important reviews together in one place so you can view them in spot.

Why make things complex?

From what I've seen it seems there's a common thread: The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette is a landmark vehicle. That's because it makes a significant departure from the previous generation Corvettes and it's not all about the mid-engine setup. This also includes its interior and the little details the Corvette team made sure to address this 'go around.

That said, take a peek at what the first reports are saying, below. Then, let us know: Is it the SUPERCAR KILLER you hoped it would be?

In a word - YES!

No - the fact that it is produced in numbers of cars that the other Supercar Manufacturers would never approach means it will never have the Exclusivity and Prestige of many other Supercars.

That is - however - not an issue. It is a remarkable achievement - unprecedented for the price - and will be a shining example of what can be done when one of the worlds largest car Makers puts aside its Mass market roots and produces a clear defining vehicle from what is a clean sheet. Were it not for my recent situation - I would have been in line with my deposit money for one without question. It is simply a game changer.

I am still not buying the Z51 with Magnetic ride control package for additional $7K! Not taking it to the track!

For Chevy's sake, I hope the C8 is not a quality debacle. Given GM's track record with underdeveloped 'brand-new' cars, I am very concerned that the !!year!! of press build up is going to come un-done if quality problems surface. Because of the unique packaging characteristics of mid-engine vehicles, there are thermal issues, insulation issues, and cooling system issues.

It would suck if some early ones spontaneously burst into flames (as some Ferrari's do on occasion).

In reading several articles with the head of engineering for the C8, cooling the engine and transmission were big concerns and received a lot of their attention. He seemed pretty convincing about the solutions.

Why can't Cadillac produce an interior this convincing. I saw another well equipped CT6 today that with the right wheels, etc, has a certain presence. Then you see the dated and busy interior and just shrug.

I saw a test and it is a whole 9/10th's of a second faster around a track with the same tires and Z51 package vs a C7. The review said it was less of a handful and easier to drive. I guess that's progress.

I'm glad to have a Z06.

Comparing the C8 to the C7 is a moot subject and a waste of time. The new generation car has BETTER be faster than the outgoing car.

When does the C8 get compared on the track to Europe's super cars?
Now that would be a valid comparison test!
