Legislation Introduced To Require Anti Drunk Driving Technology
Two U.S. senators on Wednesday plan to introduce legislation that would require automakers to install technology to prevent intoxicated drivers from starting a vehicle by the middle of the next decade.

For more than 10 years, major automakers and NHTSA have been researching technology solutions to prevent impaired driving crashes.

In 2017, 10,847 people were killed in crashes on U.S. roads involving an intoxicated driver, with costs to society nearing $200 billion, NHTSA data showed.

Money would be better spent on anti text technology, drivers are putting down the beer and picking up the phones

Anti-text technology would massively reduce traffic wrecks.

Just the beginning of the Government controlling your car.

THe technology exists that could already lIMIT your speed based on the roads you are on - which of course would eliminate SPEEDING deaths

THen of course - the technology exists to require cars to leave x amount of space between them - reducing Rear end collisions and deaths.

On Major highways they could literally control your entire ride - starting with merging onto the highway - to the exit ramp.

Which of course means that ALL vehicles will become autonomous (Older cars will have to be eliminated from using highways) and controlled by the government - no need to drive - it won't be possible

Imagine how much money we will save on Insurance! AND we won't have to drive as well. Even if we want to!

Does anyone really believe autonomous driving is NOT coming? People will look back at a steering wheel the same way they now look at a phone booth.

Yes, things are changing...

My uncle has a country place
That no one knows about
He says it used to be a farm
Before the Motor Law
And on Sundays I elude the eyes
And hop the Turbine Freight
To far outside the Wire
Where my white-haired uncle waits
Jump to the ground
As the Turbo slows to cross the borderline
Run like the wind
As excitement shivers up and down my spine
Down in his barn
My uncle preserved for me an old machine
For fifty odd years
To keep it as new has been his dearest dream
I strip away the old debris
That hides a shining car
A brilliant red Barchetta
From a better vanished time
I fire up the willing engine
Responding with a roar
Tires spitting gravel
I commit my weekly crime
Wind
In my hair
Shifting and drifting
Mechanical music
Adrenaline surge...
Well-weathered leather
Hot metal and oil
The scented country air
Sunlight on chrome
The blur of the landscape
Every nerve aware
Suddenly ahead of me
Across the mountainside
A gleaming alloy air car
Shoots towards me, two lanes wide
I spin around with shrieking tires
To run the deadly race
Go screaming through the valley
As another joins the chase
Drive like the wind
Straining the limits of machine and man
Laughing out loud with fear and hope
I've got a desperate plan
At the one-lane bridge
I leave the giants stranded at the riverside
Race back to the farm
To dream with my uncle at the fireside

Rush is such a shitty band with a screechy lead singer.

Rush is so highly overrated it's ridiculous. Their music is so self-indulgent that it's unlistenable.

@runbuh, not the first time I have posted this. I know MD doesn't like Rush. That is partly why I enjoy posting. They are Canadian Classic Rock Royalty, love them or hate them. First time I saw them was at Maple Leaf Gardens and the Tragically Hip were a new band and they opened for them. Not a bad night.

Canadian Classic Rock Royalty LOL That's priceless. But hey, Rush is almost as good as some of the Ugandan Classic Rock Royalty.

Besides, everyone knows that the Jesus and Mary Chain is far superior.

Great lets make cars more expensive for all the other consumers over a small number of asshole drunks whom choose to drive inebriated! Bubble wrap society continues -what the hell ever happened to personal responsibility for ones own actions? How about loosing your license for life for DUI first offence to start???

BTW Rush rocks (seen them many times) and so does JMC for that matter -just different slices of bread...
