Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S vs Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio - Which Should Be In Your Garage?

The Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S and Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio are two of the finest performance SUVs on the market. Which is the best? Throttle House is here to answer that question.

When looking at the spec sheet, the two are quite evenly matched. Fitted beneath the skin of the GLC 63 S is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine delivering 503 hp and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. This grunt is sent to the pavement through the company’s nine-speed automatic transmission and 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system.

Lol GLC hands down, unfortunately the Alfa would stay in my mechanic’s garage more than mine...

C63 S, I don't need a compromised car with a lift kit.

A GLE or GLS so I would have some room for stuff. Maybe even a dog.

Build quality is lacking and reliability is abysmal. Get the Mercedes.

I think I would go with the Stelvio too... reliability is way over-rated. Modern cars, even Alfas have had massive improvements in reliability for a lot of reasons from the consolidation of component and parts make such as the transmission, electronics down to parts like lights and piston rings. I am sure there are 1000s of satisfied Alfa Romeo owners. They may not be Toyota or Mercedes reliable but it will likely put more smiles on your face and you will likely never have a significant problem with yours. Life is too short, enjoy every mile instead of getting by with the boring Merc.

Here’s something to think about, there are approximately 15,000 parts in the average car. If that car is 99.9% perfect, it will have 15 problems.

I guess it comes down to what you want in a 3 year relationship?

Do you want the end of each encounter to be a “oh that was nice, what’s on TV?”

Or do you want a Toe curling, body tingling “oh my God DON’T STOP, where did you learn that!”

The former is for the person that thinks Olive Garden is good food because they have all the right ingredients. The later for those that understand there’s a difference between Olive Garden and Buca Mario.
