SUV WARS! The Experts At Car And Driver FINALLY Realize What We Told You SIX Months Ago...
It's a funny thing when you seek to tell the truth. Especially when you do it with conviction.

Sometimes people listen and follow your guidance. Other times, you'll get told you're the bad guy. To us, it doesn't matter because we stick to just the facts and our hot takes.

The latest example is the Kia Telluride.

This is the sport-utility vehicle we've been consistently telling you is the all-new seven-seater SUV to have. Well, it seems like the buff books are starting to acknowledge what's been known since the Korean SUV's debut.

In an all-new comparison test featuring the 2020 Ford Explorer, Mazda CX-9, Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride and Buick Enclave, guess to takes the top spot?

Welcome to six months ago, folks.

...They're not flawless, though. The wheels and tires look a little skinny from some angles. When slammed, the doors shake the whole vehicle. And over big bumps, there's more shimmy through the structure of the twins than you'll feel in the others. But the look and finish are such that not even a few quivers can pierce the upscale atmosphere. Not long ago, paying $50,000 for a Kia would have seemed ridiculous. Now there's one that seems like a ridiculous steal at $50,000.

At the end of the day for the money none of these SUVs will get a single buck. Heck not even worth 30k each.

No surprises here. First and second place are a step above the rest.

How long ago was that? I've had my Niro PHEV for about 5 1/2 months and it's been flawless. I never would have dreamed I'd own a Kia, but here I am.

maybe comparible in dimensions (int/ext) & interior features/content; but for off-road capability....no.

most recent LC i've seen have never been anywhere off-road. maybe a dog park or beach edge.

There is no arguing that the Kia and Hyundai are well executed. And no one I know that owns one of these brands has had any trouble with them. My daughter was just in an accident in which her Kia Soul was totaled and she walked away without a scratch.
What is most disappointing about this comparison is that the Explorer did not do better given a clean sheet design and knowing that the competition is getting tougher. I drove one and felt the drivetrain was a weakness. For this price point I want a V-6. But the interior was abysmal. Why do American car companies keep putting out cheap interiors?

I’d say they have to pay the UAW extortion and thus are at a dramatic disadvantage...

Kia and Hyundai have a great product. They will have some strong competition with the new Highlander which is much improved where it counts in this segment (interior). Toyota also has a better reputation for reliability than Hyundai/Kia.

"New" Highlander looks even worse than the current one. Actually it looks related to the Subaru Ascent but either way the Highlander has always been ok but the size is not comparable.

Why wasnt the Subaru Ascent on this comparison?
