Tesla Model S Plaid Prototype Crashes At Nürburgring

A Tesla Model S Plaid prototype has reportedly crashed on the Nürburgring race track in the latest round of testing and the automaker has been testing different configurations of its upcoming new top performance Model S.

As we previously reported, following the recent launch of the Porsche Taycan, Tesla CEO Elon Musk appears to be on a mission to show that Tesla’s vehicles are still the highest-performing EVs available today.

It speaks to the cheapness and the limits of the Model 3, that Tesla is trying this exercise with the 7 year old Model S platform and not the Model 3, which is lighter and one would think more modern - both from battery standpoint as well as suspension.

All the sad, tacked-on stuff on the 'Ring Model S smacks of desperation.

Tesla's lack of investment in new product is vividly on display here.

The Model 3/Y won't get the plaid powertrain, I don't think there is enough space for the 3-motor setup.
