Subaru Post MASSIVE 200,000 Vehicle Recall For Possible Engine Replacement

Subaru is recalling 228,500 2017-2019 Imprezas and Crosstreks for faulty PCV valves, an issue that could require total engine replacements. Owners of affected vehicles will have to take their vehicles to the dealer, where CarComplaints reports that they’ll be inspected to see if the engine needs to be swapped.

If left unattended, the faulty PCV valves may allow oil to enter the combustion chamber and burn up. Eventually, bits of the valves themselves may enter the combustion chamber and cause engine failure.

Boy you start looking around and it seems like every car manufacturer has issues. From reading this board and the comments to the blogs I was starting to think only Tesla ever had issues. Seems like Subaru is also an under engineered....

Ha, ha, ha. An entire engine replacement? Oh yes, Subaru is DOG TESTED which is why the engines are going to the dogs.

Neighbors one month old 2019 Ascent needed a new transmission. Issue with the CVT.

How unfortunate. But if you Google engines burning oil, it isn't just the German's, a lot of Japanese cars suffer from this as well. Late model cars with bad piston rings or just poorly designed engines. This won't sit well with the Subaru faithful.

Its my observation that "Subaru Reliability" has always been a myth.

About 1/2 of my friends (when I was younger) who had Subaru's had the flat-four engines basically explode around 50,000 miles. The other half of my friends with Subarus were senior citizens who never reached 50,000 miles.

If you don't rack up miles on your Subaru, it can be very reliable.

Subarus have shitty quality, but like VW fanboys, Subaru fanwomen will defend them to the death.

Funny how some constantly moan about the "shitty quality" of certain cars when they sell Fords.....
