Look Out VW - Fiat Chrysler And PSA Confirm Talks Over Mega Merger

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and PSA Group said they are in talks about a possible combination, in a potential deal that would reshape the global auto industry and create a European powerhouse to rival Volkswagen Group.

"There are ongoing discussions aimed at creating one of the world's leading mobility groups," FCA said in a statement Wednesday, confirming media reports. PSA issued a similar statement.

This merger will be a mess. The last thing FCA needs is more exposure to the non luxury EU market which is a bloodbath.

If head of PSA Group is CEO it might have a chance. He turned that company around from a big loss to profitability in less than two years by cutting fat and the accelerating new product introductions. Just what FCA needs.

These combined companies will have nothing on VW. VW still has pricing power In the eu market...they are able to charge more than the Asians and still sell cars, and they sell amortized last gen platforms built I. Eastern Europe under the skoda name to compete with Asians. PSA/fiat will have a world of problems because their production bases are in high cost Italy and France, which they can’t change due to politics...they will never be able to compete with the Asian makes who are much lower costs due to lean industrial processes.
