Genesis G80 Ultimate Sport Design - Could This Be The Sane Alternative To The Germans?

The Genesis G80 is a car which just 10 years ago, couldn’t have existed. Back then, cars from the South Korean automaker were about as bland as could be. They also weren’t that well-known for their qualities. Well, things have changed dramatically since then.

Today, Hyundai is not only producing some exciting performance cars through its N division but ihas t also spun-off its Genesis sedan into an all-new luxury division.

Just look at Infiniti and you know what will happen eventually

Is buying German an insane choice? This is a fine car, though I agree with the article and wait to see the new and improved model out soon.

"Ultimate Sport Design" What????

Well, the fact that Motor Trend's G70 long-termer had to get a new transmission before testing even started, not so sure about this brand.

Genesis is the “Ultimate Generic Design” both inside out nothing special about it, they just give you a bunch of trends at a low price for a car pretending to be German

I guess they’ll make great CPO options though

LMAO, they might as well move all these to the hyundai badge and close genesis. It's not going to compete with the luxury brands.

It looks just like an ordinary car with no own identity.

And anyone who buys one of these things will be forever looked at as the poseur whom couldn't afford the Benz and rightfully so...

My customer just had his 4th motor replaced in his Elantra under factory warranty. The first lasted 100KM and has had 3 more replacements in the last 30KM. -Hyundai quality!

But it looks like a Hyundai. Nuts.

It takes decades of leadership for a car to reach premium status - which is one reason why that US EV company does not reach that level. Even Lexus and Infiniti had problems initially when their best sellers were basically rebadged lower end cars - and neither reached the level of the Germans yet.

The problem is - buying a Hyundai - only identifies it owner as being CHEAP - certainly not what a premium brand wants to convey.

So you guys just told infiniti good riddance on the discontinued Q70 post but praise Genesis for ripping off a 10 year old design? I'm so confused

Genesis is quality. Infiniti isn't.

Funny all the bland comments above... did anyone watch the video? If not, don't bother!

@MDarringer - sorry, but four Infinitis since 2002 doesn't support your "Infiniti isn't" quality claim. I haven't had an infiniti break ever.
