There Are Currently Over 650 New 2020 Toyota Supras Online - But Is Anyone Buying Them?
In case you may not be aware, Toyota brought back the Supra. It’s a good and fast car, with mostly BMW parts under the skin. It still packs a turbocharged inline-six that sends power to the rear wheels and while it may not decimate all, it does have a pretty reasonable starting price. But is anyone actually buying them?

I’ve seen zero but I did spot it’s Bavarian cousin the Z4

Seen two Supras and two Z4s. Z4 looks better on the street.

Only people who buy them are 25 year old men who have their own douchy youtube channel. Not enough of those people apparently.

Its nice that performance is good but its just too expensive and too fragile. Wait for the inevitable BMW "High Pressure Fuel Pump" failures start rolling in!

I'd love to see the shocked faces of Toyota service department personnel as they try to explain that to customers. Also love to see Toyota service techs faces as they try to fix them. Supra owners might just want to head over to their local BMW dealers for repairs.

This car was a mistake from the word go. And now it is abundantly clear.

I haven't seen any in or around Houston - there are only 7 for sale within 100 miles of Houston - either they are selling like hotcakes (not) or dealers aren't stocking them

Toyota dealers are not happy with the FRS/GT86 fiasco of having an overpriced sports coupe that arrives only to gather dust on the lot. The Supra isn't the product dealers wanted and they fear a repeat of the Toyoburu nightmare. The standing orders aren't many and the foot traffic is from douchebag import tuner boys who cannot afford the car but want to gaze at it and experience localized rigidity. Thus they are not placing orders.

The Supra needed to be a "Mustang GT" and the new vehicle should have spawned a lower-priced, new Celica version to replace the dismal GT86. In person, the Supra is too small. It can so easily be double the cost of a GT86 and yet is somewhat similar in size.

Saw my first one in Houston last week and the grocery store. Was black, didn't look bad, just smaller than I thought.

Saw my first one on I10 in Houston...a yellow one. Looked really riced out and the fake fender vents looked pretty silly. Can't believe they would bastardize such an iconic namesake. Pretty pathetic attempt by Toyota.

Saw one on the DNT a couple of weeks ago. It’s not a very good looking car. Very boy racer. Cost too much for regular guys.

From Car & Driver:

A Toyota dealer in Alabama has a used 2020 Toyota Supra Launch Edition listed, claiming only 182 miles on the odometer.

The "no haggle price" listed: $167,000, compared with the list price from Toyota of $56,205 when new.

Saw the Z4 at the dealer but have not seen either one in the wild.

The whole Automotive market is based on EGO and elitism. If it were not - everyone would be driving Toyota Corollas. But many people want to be seen with the Newest - fastest - best looking - best driving vehicle.

A Toyota is NOT seen as a high end choice - maybe reliable - but generally that also means bland and just adequate. If the car had been a Lexus - it might have a cache', but in reality it is a little small sports car in a market where it cannot show itself. And it is being sold in Toyota Dealerships - as well. There will not be many of the vehicles made to begin with - but this will turn out to be a huge "miss" for Toyota.

The market for sports cars is turning out to be higher end than it was in the past - because younger people don't have the money for it.
