CAR WARS! EV Edition — Top Gear Divulges, Does The Porsche Taycan Turbo S Take DOWN The Tesla Model S?
The boys and girls at Top Gear are up to it again. That's because it has put together the electric vehicle showdown everyone has wanted to see for quite some time.

That would be the Porsche Taycan Turbo S versus the Tesla Model S Performance.

There's a lot to argue about between both products. Most obvious is the pricing difference, which is significant. And then there's their respective ranges on a full charge, styling, driving dynamics and a slew of other points.

At the end of the day, we simply want to know which product is the best. To get a better idea, scope out Top Gear's video review that puts both up against each other in a drag race, road test, at the charging station and on the autobahn to reach their respective top speeds.

What do YOU make of the end result, Spies? Does this change ANY opinion of yours going into the test?

See the clip below.

It’s the EV heavyweight battle you’ve been waiting for: In the green corner, the £140k, 750bhp Porsche Taycan Turbo S. In the red corner, the £100k, 754bhp Tesla Model S Performance Ludicrous+. To find out which is best, we test both on the road, drag strip, autobahn and at the charging station.

I really don't want either of them, but for me the biggest zing against the Porsche is the price. The Tesla does nearly the same performance for a lot less money. VWAG should have price the Taycan to the penny against the Model S even if they lost money to make that happen.

Wrong idiot, consumers will pay more for a Porsche, just not twice as much as the Taycan is, I have a feeling we will see that number drop in the future though, but the build quality, technology, and performance of the Porsche does command a higher price point than the Model S.

I’m sure VWAG is seeing just how much profit they can squeeze out of it at launch and adjust the price accordingly in time

And once again you're #WRONG.

The notion that people will pay more for a Porsche, so we'll charge more, is opportunistic, but short-sighted because ultimately Porsche will lose market share rather than gain.

Assuming Tesla can stay afloat, it will encroach more and more on the Germans. Thus, competing hard to (1) keep people in the fold at Porsche and (2) attract Tesla fans away from a Tesla is how to protect market share in the long run.

But being the Alt-Lefter that you are, you have no coherent thoughts on business strategy.

Lol u are a used car salesman...let’s not talk about “business strategy”...clearly someone failed and leave politics out of it.

LMAO PORSCHE HAS BEEN CHARGING MORE FOR VW/AUDI Platforms because they can and it’s worked wonders for them, ever heard of the Cayenne, Macan, Panamera...

Do your research idiot

Once again your volcanic rage is something you should see a therapist about.

You'll never be able to get to my level of success, so just content yourself with being a "never do well". And to think I was considering inviting you out to the desert house for drinks.

Actually I win--if winning is the only valid construct and it isn't--because (1) the slightest poke sends you into a firegasm of spewing rage, (2) I'm laughing at you for how easily you take the bait, (3) and I'm in hysterics that you think you've "won" because I'm not in it to win it. I'm in it to keep taking shots at you for sport. And like a punching bag you always return. Once again, the way to minimize me is never to say anything to me. But you aren't strong enough to do that. Meanwhile, your responses hint at borderline personality disorder.

The price diff is not that huge. Model S Performance starts at $100k and a Taycan 4S starts at $104k.

First, let's address the Tesla vs Porsche. Tesla fans are so obsessed about winning an acceleration test that they will debate this and make excuses for weeks. A car is about much more than straight-line acceleration. Here the Porsche also wins, but not enough to justify the large price gap.
Also, car4life, quit casting aspersions on what you think about others. Matt is more successful than you give him credit for.
And his comments regarding brand values are spot on.

The Taycan won't win in straight line today in a proper competition and with the plaid Model S next year it won't win on the track either.

"Proper" means pitting a fake Model S against a totally stock Porsche.

SanJose, "wait until next year" is so juvenile. The Porsche won. End of story.
You Tesla fanboys should turn your attention to the better engineered battery and motor cooling, better interior, better quality, better dealer and service network, better brakes, better experience. And by the time Elon gets around to making his one-off to compete against this production Porsche, the fast charging network will be in place too. Also, it won't catch on fire like a Tesla.
