2020 Mini John Cooper Works GP To Hit The Ground Running At $46,000

MINI has announced the official pricing of the new John Cooper Works (JCW) GP in the United States. The subcompact hot hatchback will arrive in showrooms in mid-2020 and will set buyers back $45,750, including destination and handling.

The company’s most powerful street-legal car ever packs a 2.0-liter, TwinPower Turbo four-banger that produces 301 horsepower in U.S.-spec. Thus, in terms of performance, it will sit in a league of its own, as the similar-sized Volkswagen Polo GTI, Renault Clio RS, Ford Fiesta ST and other supermini hot hatches have about 100 HP less.

Why to small for U.S. buyers unless they are smaller in stature and like driving around in a go cart!

Have owned two of the hatchback S models, both manual trans - loved them both, fit in them fine, and I'm 6'3". Looking forward to the JCW GP!

For $45k USD / $59k CAD, you have a lot of choices. This or a new Mustang GT? A used Corvette C7? A used 911? Mini quality is also nothing to rave about. This car appeals to a very specific customer.

Minis have horrendous torque steer. How come VW can make an FWD GTI with virtually no torque steer and BMW is so painfully inept with the Mini?

$50K for a 4 wheel shoe? No thanks.
