Yesterday an email from BMW North America crawled into my inbox.

Yippee! The details and pictures for the all-new M2 CS had arrived. As usual with these sorts of things, there was an embargo for it — the news was supposed to break at 6:01 p.m. ET today. Well, thanks to the folks over at Jalopnik, that ended rather quickly. Then Autocar published some more images. Well, then, why wait any longer?

In addition, here are some fast facts:

• 444 horsepower
• 7-speed DCT or 6-speed manual transmissions
• 0-60 happens in 4 seconds dead (manual)
• 0-60 happens in 3.8 seconds (DCT)
• Lots of carbon fiber — front lip, roof, rear spoiler, interior
• Adds M3/M4 lightweight seats
• Unique hood with added measures for cooling
• 2200 units to be produced, globally
• Global debut at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show (LAAS)
