WHICH Car Has Tesla Decapitated Sales From The Most? Can You Guess?

When Dana Woodruff traded in her BMW X5 last year for Tesla Inc.’s new Model 3 electric car, her biggest concern was the availability of public chargers. She puts a lot of miles on the odometer as a real-estate agent in Houston, and in the springtime enjoys long drives through Texas Hill Country to view the bluebonnet wildflowers that blanket the plains and valleys. Would an electric vehicle cramp her style?

But Woodruff, 46, considers herself a car gal, and when the Model 3 arrived, she had to have one. After driving “Lucy”—that’s what she’s named her car—for the last 18 months, Woodruff’s range anxiety is gone.

"Woodruff, 46, considers herself a car gal"
LMAO. She shouldn't. If she was, she wouldn't buy a POS Tesla.

Model 3 is the best you can get for the money today, even without incentives.

The only embarrassment is how wrong you guys are consistently about Telsa's eminent demise when they keep chipping away at the traditional auto industry, quarter after quarter. I don't think it'll hit you until a Tesla is literally in your in driveway... and if you've ever used Uber or Lyft, I guarantee it will be someday.

Please pay special attention to the survey results for:

- I'd recommend a Model 3 to family or friends (NPS)
- I would buy a Model 3 again
- The Model 3 has exceeded my expectations
- I will never buy another gas-powered car
- Model 3 is more reliable than my previous cars

The high marks on these 5 metrics are why other auto companies should be scared despite the relatively low sales volumes today. They are going to triple production capacity by the end of 2021 and Tesla merits as much attention as it is getting today. Sorry to those that are not fans, Tesla won't be going away anytime soon.

If you look at the cars that Tesla 3 owners used to have, they're mostly cheap econoboxes so of course it's "better". And comparing a model 3 to a BMW 3 series is also kind of a lopsided thing because the 3 series has gotten bloated and overpriced. For the kind of real world driving most folks do, having a car that handles well on the track has little relevance. Tesla was smart to go downmarket, but IMO they need to keep the price of the Model 3 below $50k to continue to win at this game.

That being stated, as you travel around the country you don't see near the numbers of Teslas as you do in places like California.

That's a good thing, it should the potential size of the market for Tesla in the US alone. I think even in California sales could still double with the Y.

Your wrong SanJose, it shows that Teslas only make any sort of sense in warm urban areas.
The rest of the country has access to teslas now and are largely buying something better.

Obviously Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Netherlands sales prove that theory wrong.

Not surprised BMW is the #1 replaced car. Mine fell apart as it aged. It was ridiculous. A Corolla was far better as is a 4Runner. Model 3 owners in my area are very happy as are Model S and X.

I can definitely buy that. The model 3 performance drives wonderfully and beyond the raw performance of the electric motors that car had a very resolved suspension, handling set up. The only nit I had with it is that it needs a HUD. It reminded me a lot of the e39 M5 with awd added. We ended up with a 4 series gran coupe but I am certain we will get electric (likely a 3 performance model) in the not too distant future.

Model 3 was just named best midsize car by Auto Bild - one of Germany's top car mags.

Beat the new 3 Series and the refreshed A4.

Funny since Tesla has never paid $1 to any magazine or ever published a print add. Yet they still somehow managed to win.
