#LAAutoShow: Is The All-new Lexus LC500 Convertible A STUD or DUD?
It's no secret, Spies.
It's been known for quite some time that we're fans of the Lexus LC's styling. It looks more like a concept car than a production vehicle. And, as seen earlier this week, we like when manufacturers swing for the fences.

To me, the LC was a nice follow up to the more exotic LFA. That's because the LC is more firmly rooted in reality. Think of as comparable to the Mercedes-Benz SLS-AMG and the now AMG GT. Both newer autos are more attainable.
There's just one thing with the LC. Toyota's luxury division has gone ahead and made a rag top variant. This changes everything completely. That's because — at least in our eyes — the controversial coupe's styling was perfect.
Axe the roof and that changes...everything.
Agent 001 made sure to spend some time with the LC Convertible and snapped some 360-degree images for you. That's because we're curious:
Do YOU think the all-new LC500 Convertible is a STUD or DUD?

Looks like the standard, usual boring Lexless car. The front grill his even more hideous and exaggerated on this LC500. The car is laughable.

THe fact is - this is an area - ie Performance car - that Lexus really does not belong in. They have no Pedigree.
ANd yes - the cow catcher grill is still another reason to avoid this car. Wait a year - if you want one it will lose half its value in that time.

The LC is a dud because it's priced $25K too high

I think this is too late to market. The LC is going to be 3 years old when this convertible hits showrooms. Its sales numbers are abysmal, even being soundly beaten by the much older Benz SL.
The trendy styling approach of the LC has already worn its welcome. It's no longer a "ooh, look at that" reaction. And it already feels like the latest fashion trend to come and go. This convertible doesn't change that and if anything, emphasizes it. It's only advantage is that the S-Class Cab starts at $134k and I don't think the 8 SEries convertible is far behind. And the upcoming Vantage convertible is much higher.

I think this is the only car the Lexus grill works on, I'm actually considering this car if I can get past my loathing of the pathetic instrument cluster.

Stud, bigly. And the blue color is particularly rich looking.

And MD is correct, it is priced too high as every LC on my dealer's lot has a significant discount.
Still, at the discounted price this is a beautifully done car.

Dud... interior is a mess in person, I don’t like that weird curve at the c pillar position. They could have done better. That being said the coupes design looks good in person and the car has an undeniable presence on the road.
