#LAAutoShow: REVEALED! FIRST Pics Of The Tesla Cybertruck — It's A TOTAL Game Changer...
This is the moment we've been waiting for, Spies! The all-new Tesla Cybertruck is officially here.

Well, sort of. Although Elon Musk's presentation was relatively brief, there was no mention of when it would actually be available. What you did get, however, is a bunch of slideware, stats and even "demos."

2019 LA Auto Show

We'll stick to the important bits.

First off, its styling is unlike ever seen in the pick-up truck market. Frankly, it's unlike any other auto I've seen aside from maybe a Vector. It's a pick-up wedge, essentially.

Next, there will be three flavors on offer: Single motor AWD, dual motor AWD and tri motor AWD. They will get 250, 300 and 500 miles, respectively on a full charge. Zero to 60 for each will be 6.5s, 4.5s and 2.9s, respectively. And, the big question mark is pricing. The base price is $39,900*, $49,900* and $69,900*, respectively. All of these numbers are BEFORE incentives.

*Pricing does NOT include title, taxes or fees.

Other cool things we saw tonight dealt with performance. The Cybertruck and F-150 had a tug of war where the Tesla literally pulled the F-150 away like it was nothing. Then, Musk showed a video of the Cybertruck doing a drag race with a Porsche 911 (997) — we have no idea if it was an AWD or RWD model. The Cybertruck edged ahead.

And then there's the features.

It boasts more durable metal that can withstand harder impacts. To show this off, they compared the damage sustained from the door of an F-150 to the Cybertruck. The F-150 was dented where as the Cybertruck's door was left virtually undamaged — we couldn't tell if there were scratches or minor impressions, but it did look completely in tact on film.

Additionally, it has what Musk is calling "Armor glass." After demonstrating normal glass that shattered when a steel/silver ball was dropped on it, one of Musk's team members proceeded to drop a ball from varying heights to what was claimed to be the "armored glass." It didn't break. It is worth noting that the on-site display vehicle's glass did break when they threw the ball into the display vehicle's windows. The glass didn't completely fail and shatter, but it was definitely impacted and spidering to say the least.

Orders are being taken right now at tesla.com/cybertruck for ONLY $100.

Let us know what you think, Spies!

Vaporware money grab. Where is the semi? Where is the roadster? Where are the solar roof tiles? All figments of Elon's vivid imagination.

The design really sux a$$! ...like wtf!

Its possible we can believe their battery/motor performance & range claims, but not really. The rhetoric don't mean much until an actual production ready unit is put on a track, driven through the standard pickup truck testing circuit, & compared to the industry benchmarks.

right now, this Tron-crap is a waste of time.

so....anybody take a good look at the E-Tron SportBack & Ford Mach-E?

Should be lots of fun but you're going to have to wait three years to get it if you ordered the three-motor version.

i'm thinking the Tesla execs figured...."Lets roll out a pickup that looks so horribly bad, the industry will have to discuss it."

there's no doubt that the powertrain is descent but the exterior design is a complete cluster-fcuk.

This design does not appear to address the needs of a true workhorse. Ford, GM and Ram have decades of experience on what the market wants. The raked room would appear to make the second row headroom awful if hauling a crew to the job site. The bed looks borderline useless - flying buttresses on the side impede cargo. I also wonder if the distances noted assume an empty load. What if I am hauling a full bed, and crew? What is the impact to distance. Overall, I wouldn’t put my money on this thing.

The picture of the F150 next to the CyberTruck looks off. Why does the F150 look so short? Then I look at musk in front of the aTesla and scratch my head, as it does not look that big, It looks like they doctored the video to make the F150 look smaller.

I see that Musk hired some 6th grade public school kids to design his new truck. Musk is playing with and disrespects the public.

It does not look production ready. It definitely does not have front and rear bumpers that meet regulations. Seems like an unfinished homework project.

It goes way too far in terms of its design. I can't see them bringing this to market. Moreover, where was the board when this design was approved? You can be so polarizing that nobody will buy. As well following the success (or lack of) of the Honda Ridgeline, should steer anyone away from the idea of a blended design.
Give buyers what they need, with a bit of Tesla flair, but not this.

Guess Tesla figured out that no one would fall for the $1,000 deposit scam this time, but they'll take any money they can get.

"So, were the windows really supposed to break like that?"

Definitely not! From Bloomberg:

"Tesla Truck Demo Gets Awkward as Shatterproof Windows Shatter. The Chief Designer shattered two of the truck’s windows with a metallic ball, causing Musk to say “Oh my f---ing god.” Given how product launches are usually scripted and rehearsed, the broken windows were the evening’s big surprise."

The question is - what market is going to go for that vehicle - it is most certainly NOT a Pick-up truck. WE are going to need a lot more information about its bed capabilities before Business will get interested - and even then - finding charging stations on an active construction site is going to be genuinely hard.

Obviously - this truck was designed to compete with the enormously successful Honda Ridgeline ???? as really a car with some carrying capability.
