Does Tesla's Cybertruck With A Camper Package Make You Dream Of The Possibilities?
Elon Musk did as he promised and shocked the world with the debut of the Tesla Cybertruck this evening. Its design may be the most polarizing to come along since... well, ever, but there are also many details about this truck that have us excited. One in particular is the possibility of a camping set up featuring a bed tent and outdoor kitchen.

The possibility that Tesla offers such an option is based solely on an image of the Cybertruck set up for camping that was among the official batch released by the company. It may be this image is only meant to show what's possible in terms of upfitting the Cybertruck. That said, Tesla is surely aware how popular overlanding has become and that it's one of the first uses people will think of for the Cybertruck.

Nope. This may beat out Rivian's camper concept.. we'll see.

No. Just based on the aerodynamics alone, this can't be the design the come to market with. Show off for the crowd featuring new materials for the body and the glass are fine, but range matters and you won't get that with a wedge with sharp edges.

It's actually a pretty aerodynamic shape, much more than a normal truck.

This is a bold-faced lie: "...It's actually a pretty aerodynamic shape..."

They didn't release the coefficient, think it it will be better than other trucks. After doing some research, a single curved shape would be more efficient for sure, but it would be much harder to build with giant slabs of stainless steel.

Are there superchargers in the wilderness to recharge while camping? While range anxiety isn't an issue with a suburban commute but how far are you driving to get to a place to camp?

Up to 500 miles of range and there is a solar charger that adds 15 miles per day built into the car. You can camp indefinitely without losing range.

This is not meant to be any sort of work truck. Finally, my 5th grade sketches full size. Still not convinced that Elon is not testing everyone.

Good luck driving way off road, camping, using the battery for all the stuff Elon claims you can use it for, and then finding a Supercharger near a National Forest!

One thing's for sure though. You won't have to worry about animal attacks because the FuglyTruck will scare them off!

Highest ground clearance of any consumer truck, including the F150. Up to 500 miles of range. Optional built in solar charger which adds 15 miles per day, enough to camp indefinitely or get a slight boost when not using your car.

Who's gonna fix it for you when it breaks down deep in the national forest?

I'm not a buyer of this because I don't want a pickup, but I love the idea they're doing something totally different.

Went camping with the boys once and ONCE was enough.

We love off-roading down in Imperial County. A house in Indio next to my dad and his partner went on the market, so we bought it as a staging area and got half-way through a Tarek-and-Christina style makeover when we realized that Indio was still too far, so we subsequently decided to build a house from scratch down by the Salton Sea the working title is "Casa del Infierno".

We'll just pull a toy hauler from Indio, base near the sea, and venture out.
