#LAAutoShow: In The BATTLE Of EV Trucks, Where Does The Bollinger B1 And B2 Stand?
One of the vehicles that became an overnight sensation due to media coverage was the Bollinger Motors B1 and B2. The B2 is the pick-up truck variant.

Clearly taking a utilitarian approach to the truck market, these no nonsense trucks gave us a glimpse of what was to come.

2019 LA Auto Show

There's just one problem: There's a lot of competition in the market. These are the B2's specs as of today.

A 200-mile EPA rating on a full charge, zero to 60 in 4.5 seconds and a towing capacity of 7,500 pounds. Aside from being down on range, it seems pretty much in line with what's being said at Rivian and Tesla.

A major hurdle, however, is its price. Bollinger has said that its trucks will start pricing at $125,000*. That's nearly double the Rivian and Tesla. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2021.

*Pricing does NOT include title, taxes and fees.

All that said, we've got to ask: Where does Bollinger's B2 stand NOW that you've seen the competition?

Too much $$$ and too little range! But the design is FAR FAR superior to the UglyTruck. It looks like a properly updated classic Defender.

No freakin way, if you're going to go angular there is only one logical option unless you need that slick frunk to bed passthrough on the Bollinger to haul long things.

Interesting space linear accommodation through the center line of the vehicle.
Downside is that driver and passenger need a phone to talk to each other.

Saw it at the show today. All the guys from Bollinger were there and they're all super cool.

You can sense the passion and enthusiasm for the truck from all of them and I wish them the best!

Having said that, it's a pretty rough vehicle and the packaging is quite odd. At $125k I'm thinking the volume will be so low that they'll be able to sell as many as they can make.

Also, I asked how they can get away with not offering airbags and I was told it's because the vehicle weighs OVER 10,000 lbs. Holy crap!

No wonder it only gets 200 miles of range from such a large battery. I think even that may be optimistic.

Uhhhh, for $125k I'd expect some airbags.

I've heard tremendous things about the Bollinger team. As you said, I also wish them the best.

To me the problem is the price, the range and the fact it looks like an erector set.

Yup, the S/X/3 weren't competitive at all.. beating out the established industry at their own game.

Orders and deliveries are two very different things.. it takes no nuts to place an order, it takes some significant kahunas to pay 125k for a truck or SUV... The electric part aside, the truck is rough as a night in jail inside and out, despite its interesting use of space, the bowling alley in the middle, cute, but I doubt that will ever make it past the NHTSA regulations.. the looks are pure kit car.. has EV made people go completely mad... recall Audi boasted 20K orders and yet has sold only 4100 etrons YTD... so orders and deliveries.. not the same..
