VIDEO! For All The Haters. First Drive INSIDE The Tesla CyberTruck. Will Elon Have The LAST LAUGH AGAIN?
For all the haters chirping on the internet that the truck is vaporware and it will never happen here is the first video of someone testing the concept on a real drive. If you're wondering what it's like, watch the video from the site Teslarati. FYI, I put my order in for the AWD fully loaded model.

Some interesting tidbits to notice in the video if you look carefully:

1.) The driver didn't seem to have a problem with the steering "wheel" -- looks easier to handle than the roadster, they might have made some improvements.
2.) The Tesla UI/UX was completely redesigned for the truck. Should be easier for the driver to control since the screen is further away and it is a 17 inch monster like the S. There are some new suspension and offroading options if you look carefully.
3.) All 3 mirrors were consolidated into a wideview screen where the rear-view mirror should be.
4.) There is no door opening button on the doors. I think you might be able to push on the gray part on the door to open it, not clear yet though.
5.) When the 6th seat isn't used, it becomes an armrest, cupholders, and center storage area.
6.) They used marble for the dashboard... this might be the only thing I don't like about the interior so I hope there are multiple options.
7.) The driver mentions a variable damper system in addition to the suspension.

Dash isn't marble. I've read it's some sort of pressed paper material. Seriously.

This thing looks pretty rough.

I think it's the furthest from the production version since the original test rides in the Model S.

That one evolved quite a bit from its first showing to the one that went on sale.

I think this will too.

Also noted...

1) no airbag on steering wheel
2) 'A" pillar blocks view significantly when turning a corner or looking for pedestrian in cross walk
3) how much time driver looks away from the road to make adjustment on touch screen

Its a concept, not yet production ready. The proof of concept will be when its matched up against its competition from Ford, GM and Ram in real life use, particularly by those who use their truck to make a living from it.

Also, no windshield wipers. Clearly not representative of production version.

Almost 200k in reservations with no marketing or advertising (and it looks insane), what a disaster =)

The whole airbag system will need to be redesigned because of the middle driver. Think perhaps it might be one bag for all 3 people in front. Wipers could be the magnetic patent they submitted a couple weeks ago.

I also noticed on the "wheel" there are no paddles for blinkers or gears. Perhaps they are hidden somewhere. The roadster has two metal bars on a very similar wheel, but I can't spot them on any video with the truck.

200k orders now.

Spies has to do a post about the tourneau cover for the bed. It looks amazing:

https://twitter.com/MattLondre/status/1197803991104552960

Based on the Motortrend videos, the cover goes into a cylinder right before the rear wheels. The battery is smaller than you would expect because of that cylinder and the 500 mile version is a double stacked battery.

Also, the powertrain. The AWD version is the Raven Powertrain from the Model S/X, straight up. The triple motor is the Plaid powertrain. It seems like the truck will be the cheapest option to get these insanely powerful motors. Motortrend is estimating 690 hp for the AWD version and well over 800 for the triple motor setup. Damn...

This is definitely, DEFINITELY not production ready.

Then again, who knows. Elon loves to ship things that aren't fully baked...

Just because it moves does not mean it's production bound.

This is 100% Elon trying to keep Tesla stock pumped up and to keep eyes off the obvious:

Where is the Model Y?

Where is the new Model S?

Where is the new Model X?

Where is quality control?

They Y is ahead of schedule, hopefully next summer. Plaid S, hopefully next summer. Plaid X TBD. QC seems good on new cars.

Have another friend that bought one, will check it out next week. Full disclosure, mine's a year old and I did notice a slight issue with a tiny panel by the passenger-side mirror. Think it just needs to be re-glued, it's sticking out a bit on one side.

Sales of EVs are beginning to level off - certainly the older Tesla's are. It is really really hard to sell a used EV or Hybrid and they do not keep value when they have high mileage. Hybrids are not selling well at all - and that is because GAS prices have stabilized in the world - so people are not willing to put up with the loss of drivability just for improved mileage. (Just as we all hate CVT's too)

So - the question is - will a Tesla Truck (THis is not going to be it) create new buyers or just move the customers around. Over the next two to three years there will be an explosion of models - still the infrastructure question has not been even talked about -even in California - where they are cutting off electricity to fire prone areas - AND they also brown out high population areas in hot weather too.

Um what? How are EV sales starting to level off? Compare YoY sales of EVs, nicest looking exponential curve you've ever seen.

When has Elon ever had the last laugh?
His revenue is falling. His company is structurally unprofitable. He has $14 billion in debt. He just personally lost $760 million in net worth. Where is the "win" for Elon?

Elon has propped up those numbers. He and his crooked relatives could have placed orders for 100,000. They take $10 million out and put it back in as pre-orders. Plus the history of pre-orders for sales for a product 4 years away is not good.
