DRIVEN + VIDEO: So, What's The All-new Audi RS6 Avant REALLY Like? FIRST Drive In The U.S.
For what feels like eons, Audiphiles across the US have been pining away for an Audi RS6 Avant to arrive on our shores. It didn't happen.

Well, that is until now.

Audi has finally delivered the goods for the 2020 model year. This translates into a 600 horsepower wagon with supercar performance. I don't think anyone will be complaining about that; however, as I pointed out in my previous thread its timing may be too late.

Late or not, it's here. That said, we're a wee bit curious as to what that actually entails. Check out the clip below to get the download.

One of my favorite presenters, Henry Catchpole, takes the all-new RS6 Avant from Malibu to Las Vegas to see just what it's capable of.

I'm sure it's lovely. I'm sure it's fast. But what's the point? Sure, it's a great engineering accomplishment. But is it really a good station wagon?

Saw an RS6 sedan in this color red today and it was a stunner.

I think Audi certified the A6 All-Road (which will be popular amongst the horsey country house set) and just rolled the RS6 Avant into the mix as a halo car. If Audi sells >200 of them (RS6) per year, that will be a sales success.

The All-Road should take sales from the MB E450 wagon - which is ugly (Volvo wagon is cheaper but its also ugly). The A6 lineup is quite good looking and the person who wants to check the 'German' box and the 'Good Looking' box and the 'I have a country house so I might need an SUV' box, will just get the All Road.

This is an A6 All Road story and not an RS6 story (except perhaps for the inevitable appearances in video games.

I've driven hot rod Audis. They aren't terrible but they are not exactly filled with emotion either.

An AMG is far better.

Awesome ride! Much more desirable and better looking than an E63s or an M5.

I never felt the hot rod Audi's had that special feel during quick cornering you get with a properly balanced car. Great for autobahn hauling, beautiful inside and out, but the ones I have been able to drive were all engine in front of the front wheels platforms. One drive with a friend in Germany who owned one of these Audi hot rods told me that the issue was a high polar moment of inertia which is not a good thing for changing directions quickly. He still loved it for the speed, stability on the autobahn, all weather capability and wagon utility as his job took him from south east Germany to the Benelux countries often with merchandise to haul. Each car has it's appeal and fans for many different reasons.
