DRIVEN: Is You Were Thinking Of PASSING On The Mercedes-Benz GLB, You Should Read THIS...
So, I have to admit. The all-new Mercedes-Benz has been a bit of a head scratcher for me.

That's because it's kind of small yet Mercedes says it seats seven.

We've all heard this before. Then when you try to use the second and third rows you might as well saw your passengers in half. That's because their torsos are the only thing that fits.

Well, according to the folks at CAR magazine, it turns out the all-new GLB-Class is actually well packaged. Although it's riding on architecture developed for the A- and B-Class vehicles, the GLB has quite a bit of utility.

The only problem with its review of the GLB35 is the AMG variant may be a bit too costly — no surprise there.

Verdict

On paper, the GLB sounds like it will make little sense. Why bother with what is essentially a seven-seat SUV version of a hatchback when there’s plenty of cheaper alternative family buses around? In reality, however, it’s a likeable alternative to larger seven-seaters if you only plan to use the rearmost seats on rare occasions and a more flexible rival to premium five-seat SUVs. We’ll reserve final judgement until we’ve tried one in the UK on passive springs, but first impressions are promising.

It's kind of odd looking. The side looks more like some lackluster Dodge Journey replacement than a Mercedes. It's not ugly, but not special.

huh?

The GLB is like the Element & PT Cruser & HHR. They were small but fit 5 adults comfortably. And had descent rear cargo spaces. Perfect for a market where the Kia Soul is still gong strong.

The GLB has descent exterior proportions & the GLB in 4Matic AMG trim will be a little street-going monster.with some "rough-road" capabilities.

Depending on proportions I prefer it’s over all “look” to either the GLC or GLE. The GLK and GLS look like a Mercedes and this does to, at least in pictures

Stubby looking abbreviated design. I pass.

Nice, more for the college kids, young professionals, and new families this will be a hit with!

Older folks I think will like this. Where I live which is loaded with retirees that don't drive long trips, this is frankly ideal... depends on pricing though.

I sat in it at the LA auto show. Surprisingly roomy and nice interior!

Land Rover Discovery Sport is probabaly about as roomy and priced the same and better looking, so that would get my vote.

The 21' rims are laughable on this one - very out of proportion.

Saw this at the LA Auto Show and it's pretty impressive. Material quality is very good and the packaging is impressive. Granted, the 3rd row seats is definitely for the smallest children, but, mostly, that's all that it's needed for. But with the 3rd row folded, there is surprisingly a lot of room for cargo and the 2nd row seats have plenty of room. For this starting price, this may make the GLC obsolete unless it moves upmarket, closer to the GLE.

Is it just me or does the ass end look a little squished? 12 more inches of sheet metal past the C pillar would make a huge difference in seating and balance the rear out.

Sure, add 12 more inches, raise it a few inches. Then you have a GLS. Come on, this is a compact SUV.
