Say What? Analysts Claim Mustang SUV Is A Hit, Now Clamor For A Corvette SUV

An electric Mustang SUV will hit dealerships late next year. When will Corvette follow suit?

The positively received debut of Ford's battery-powered Mustang Mach-E in Los Angeles last month (with the automaker hinting that it could develop a full Mustang sub-brand) has turned up the heat on Chevrolet to expand its Corvette lineup as well.

Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas has added his name to a chorus of voices calling for General Motors to create a Corvette sub-brand making SUVs. He estimates the sub-brand could be worth $7 billion to $12 billion, and says a battery-powered, Corvette-badged vehicle would help GM convince customers that electric vehicles are a desirable performance option.

For the segment this SUV would be in, there is still a long way to go for ICE engined vehicles. It is too bad this SUV is not out currently as it can just use the same Corvette V8's. If there is space, a hybrid assist battery and electric motor could be added at a later date. Build it and they will come.

Would it be called the EquiVette or the TraVette? Colecole, I saw a much better photoshop of a potential Corvette that looked much like the Lamborghini Urus. Those proportions would be much better for a Corvette branded performance vehicle.
GM would likely use the Blazer with a Corvette referencing front end and Corvette taillights.

YOU already run an article about the CORVETTE like this.

And I replied that the Mustang is not on the same level as a Corvette - the Mustang competes with the Camaro - and YES - they could make a Camaro - BUT I would not like seeing a Vette suv.

True. Cadillac promised bespoke SUVs with performance and they delivered the XT4 and XT6 from the GM parts bin. Neither delivers luxury nor performance.
Sell Corvettes at Cadillac dealers. its climbing price point fits better with Cadillac. Brand it as a Corvette, without the Cadillac crest.

Yes they do share, but they make some effort to hide the shared bits. Cadillac made very little effort in creating the XT6 and it shows. Same platform, engines, transmissions, suspension as their entry level brand.
The Cimmaron had more differentiation from the Cavalier.

Colecole, it is price point. The Corvette is more expensive than everything but the Suburban, by a wide margin. It is doubtful that people shopping for a $90,000 sports car will be interested in an Equinox.
And what is your definition of "trashy"?!?
The new Corvette has a much better interior than any current Cadillac.

The point is too not make it obvious. The XT6 looks and drives just like a Chevy. There is nothing about it to justify being twice the price of a Chevy. How is a Cadillac any different than a Buick? This badge engineering helped drive GM into a decades long decline.

Cadillac is now where Lincoln was 10 years ago.

Precisely

They need names and styling that is "Cadillac"

I'd do a modern "retro" Seville in the way that the Lagonda Taraf mirrors the Lagonda.

Lincoln is doing very interesting products. Go drive the new Aviator. It is a very well executed luxury SUV.

Then you have not driven both. Park the Aviator and the Explorer next to each other and they look very different. The Lincoln interior looks and fell premium.
Park the XT6 next to its Chevy counterpart and the only difference is the grill and taillights. The interior on the XT6 is only vaguely different than the Chevy and the materials quality is the same.

You don't like the new Aviator? Have you driven one or read the reviews? You would have to be very puerile not to notice the difference. You debate like a third grader.
