Infiniti Dealership Sells Loyal Customer A Tesla Until Brand Has An EV Of It's Own

If you’re a car dealership and one of your loyal customers, who also happens to be the town’s mayor, says they want an electric vehicle, well then you best figure out a way to fulfill that order even if all of your products are powered by gasoline.

Such was the case recently in Sherbrooke, Quebec, where mayor Steve Lussier was in need of a zero emissions ride. Rather than lose him as a client, the local Infiniti dealership proudly sold him a Tesla Model 3.

More an article on customer service and the fact that Infiniti is so far behind the times that it has to resort to this tactic.

Pathetic try at a "save".

it's NOT about how Tesla (new unit) sales are doing today, it's about how they will perform 5-10 years from now.

look at the Model S/X - both have been around for a while & no exterior revisions or updates. to have nice smooth flowing exterior designs now - i cant imagine existing customers being happy with some (future-ist) origami-like Model S/X redesign in the future similar to the Cybertruck.

Tesla has model revision schedules like Bentley/RR. They're making fans of the Cybertruck look like Apple fanatics willing to parade support for anything that comes out of the brand.

Yes. This is the height of customer service. And that customer will remain loyal. I have been told by dealers that we sell brand X - but we can get you anything you want.

As a kid working at a sporting goods store in the mall I saw a woman come in and speak to the regional director who was working in our store that day. She had visited 3 other locations at malls on a Saturday looking for a very specific Thule rack pkg. Stores had said that had all the pieces, but didn't when she paid them visit. She was not happy. The RD stepped up and gave her a complete rack with attachments for no charge and apologized for the ruining her Saturday. #nice.

Why didn't he just buy directly from Tesla? How much better could the experience from a local dealer be if they are not knowledgeable about the product. Then again, my experience has typically been that I usually know more then the sales rep.

A good PR move for the dealership but not so for Infiniti

Tesla paid $0 for this, so that is not advertisement. If anything it's an ad for Infinity and what I would say is exceptional customer service. Kudos to them and I think it's likely the mayor's next car will be an Infiniti EV due to this experience.

SanJose is right. After suffering through the quality issues with a Tesla, why would you ever buy one again.

I doubt Infiniti will do any better with ramp-up issues, apparently EVs aren't as simple as everyone thought to manufacture.

Why is this news...franchise dealers sell used cars of a different make all the time.

@Agent009 but why do you consider Infiniti to be anymore behind the times than anyone else? Are they not developing an E-power vehicle as well that is coming out in 2021, just like everyone else, or are you purposely ignoring their press releases about it?? Here's an actual article about it below, which ironically was in the story that your post linked to. Just seems like you guys have a weird obsession with bashing Infiniti.
