Porsche's Taycan Already Exceeding Expectations With Over 30,000 Customers Reserving One

The Taycan is more popular than Porsche expected it to be as, so far, 30,000 customers expressed their interest in purchasing it in Europe.

Quoting information from Handelsblatt, Reuters reports that each customer made a down payment of €2,500 ($2,780). Furthermore, one-third of them have placed a firm order, according to CEO Oliver Blume, who admitted that the electric sedan has indeed exceeded the automaker’s expectations.

Very nice! Good to see better EV choices starting to come out.

For a realistic range use, the Taycan has more than enough as a daily car. Until infrastructure for the Taycan's charging network improves, long distance driving will be done with a Hybrid or ICE. Buyers for a Taycan probably know that and can afford a second or third vehicle.

can afford a second or third cars should not be a prerequisite for owning a $125,000 Porsche with 4 seats and all wheel drive... WTF was Porsche doing in all its greed, assuming the crest would sell an unusable car if someone wants to do more than go to the mall or the grocery? Taycagate

Or you can spend half as much to get a faster car with 378 miles of range.

(using almost the same size battery btw, to show how much better Tesla engineering is with electric motors and controllers)

If real world use for a sports sedan is in the 150-175 mile range for this Porsche I can see some unhappy owners. If you have to drive it like a Grandma to get 200+, there could be trouble. That and the fact the headroom in the rear is really quite limited. Nobody tall apparently. 6ft and under only.

well 30,000 will soon be 5,000 cuty drivers that never go anywhere, 201 miles of rang at full charge makes the Taycan, USELESS and at $125,000 properly equipped, someone other than hard core Porsche fans would have to have their head examined if they paid for such poor range... unless your driving Miss Daisy and never go the speed limit and keep the windows open for the climate control, then this is a good way to blow a life's fortune on a car... how many old men going only to the Club are there? Without 30,000 of them this introduction for Porsche is going to be a disaster... or should I say, is a disaster... what a full blown choke... how on earth did this happen again, dieselgate, now Taycagate.

I own a Porsche GT car and it is taken out for fun weekend drives. It's a special car with a huge smile factor. I knew that going in and own a daily sedan.

A BEV to me currently is still a daily car for city use. Two Hundred miles is a huge range. If I was really going long distances which I rarely do, then I'd rent. The Taycan can take care of 99% of my car needs and I could become a one car family again. I am even contemplating a hybrid Panamera. The plug-in all electric range covers my daily use too.

There is a function for all vehicles. I wouldn't dismiss 200 miles as not enough for mine. Having more with a Tesla has no bearing on my decision making. I am still a car enthusiast and enjoy my driving. To each their own.
