The All-new, 2020 C8 Chevrolet Corvette Makes An IMPACT — FIRST Year Officially Sold Out
I feel like I've said this 1,000 times at this point, but I will stick to my guns. If General Motors built its high volume products as good as its high-performance vehicles, it would be onto something.

This is, once again, proven with the all-new, 2020 C8 Chevrolet Corvette.

That's because it was confirmed this week that the first model year is sold out. At least in the U.S. market, that is. In a conversation with GM's President, Barry Engle, MotorTrend confirmed that 40,000 units have been accounted for.

There's just one catch: It's not made clear how many of those are dealer versus customer cars.

Did you get a spot in line for a 2020 MY car? If so, let us know in the comments below!

Production of the new 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Stingray doesn't begin until early February, but with all the advance orders, it's already sold out, said Barry Engle, president of North America for General Motors.

It's not a surprise. Enthusiasts have waited decades for GM to finally make a mid-engine Corvette. MotorTrend got an early build for testing, and its ride, handling, engineering, and affordability were enough to make it our

"The first year is sold out for 2020," Engle said. The allotment was about 40,000 for the U.S...

And the naysayers said its not a Corvette, it wouldn't sell. More to come...more versions, more power.

To quote the Spies...

Given a bigger budget, anything can be better.

GM's issue is that it cannot build lower priced vehicles that don't scream "cheap". Interiors in GM cars are the worst offenders.

By the way, even with GM's more expensive models, many of them take on the patina of "nicer but still cheapo-feeling".

Also, no one has lived with a Corvette in the real world, so despite this early sales success, I suspect there will be significant early build quality problems (there always are significant problems with 'new' GM platforms) and (yup!) people will start talking about how cheap and crummy the Corvette's interior is once they live with it for a while.

I can tell you right now that the Corvette's interior is a cheap mess...

Sold out = allocated to dealers.

Exactly 40,000 people did not materialize at Chevy dealers with money in hand.

Sold out of dealer allocations for MY 2020. A list for 2021 is being taken by many dealers already. Kerbeck in particular, the largest Corvette dealership.

Sold orders remain to be seen, as many will back out for one reason or another.

But make no mistake, these will sell out during the first MY.

GM will want these out on the roads, and many at MSRP as a running display of the cars exotic look and performance bargain.

Haters, particularly base C7 and C7 Z06 owners and other are on notice. Interior so called "cheapo-feeling" will not deter those of us who think this base car is a performance bargain.

Anxiously awaiting mine from MacMulkin Chevrolet.

Who would want the 2020 seeing the 2021 model comes only 3 months after 2020's delivered...
