Aston Martin FINALLY Confirms It Is Talking To Investors

Word on the street is Aston Martin is looking for new potential investors to speed up its business recovery process. While the company’s chief executive Andy Palmer recently denied the information, it turns out that it is more than just a rumor. In a written statement issued to the London Stock Exchange and brought to our attention by Autocar, Aston Martin confirms it is open to talks with potential investors and interested parties.

"The Company confirms that is reviewing its funding requirements and various funding options," the statement says. "It is also engaged in early-stage discussions with potential strategic investors in relation to building longer term relationships which may or may not involve an equity investment. A further announcement will be made as and when appropriate."

Ofcourse they are, and their latest offering an SUV based heavily off Mercedes components is an attempt to pay some bills and be more attractive to a potential investor.

That said, Mercedes will also be on the conference call vetting these potential bidders if they decide not to increase their 5% stake in Aston, part of the initial deal was Benz has to approve of any potential investor of Aston before contracts are printed.

Are you sure about that clause? All car companies have a side business selling parts. Aston has some pretty major investors with stakes a lot bigger than 4%.

Yup, Benz plays chess, not checkers

I see. If people bring money I don't think it is an issue. If another car company wants to invest, there lies the issue. If they have engines and other tech that could supplant the Benz offerings, then it could likely go ahead with Benz being bought out.

What?? We were miss-lead again by Andy Palmer? Hard to believe that the carnival barker is admitting that his shove inventory into dealers hands to lose money for him plan, is'nt working... more unbelievable is the idea that a Q5/GLC size Aston Martin SUV will save the day... Why would any right minded investor believe anything AM says in public or private. Before the IPO, the only thing that made the listing look profitable was the hidden sale of all the tooling and build package for the Vantage to an "unknown"buyer... Please, let Aston Die a dignified death or have Mercedes take over and punt all the management that currently has anything to do with the failed turn around plan, Aston is a train wreck and Palmer is the conductor, engineer and pilot... time to move on.

@1lostVW - It is Cayenne sized with more rear legroom. It has a long wheelbase. More rear luggage space than most as well.

Aston should take the Coyote/Voodoo engine that Cosworth tinkered with for TVR and call it a win/win with TVR.

But the coyote/voodoo V8 is amazingly good and Cosworth enhanced it further.

But clearly you've never been around Astons, because build quality ISN'T their forte and they have routinely used switchgear from very basic cars. Hell, their V12 was 2 Ford V6s cast together. Sounds pretty kit car to me.

@MD- That V12 was a joke. I had Ford Mondeo parts inside it. Oil distribution issues. Starvation of the rear 2 cylinders. I have seen videos where it is taken apart and Mahle pistons replace the stock items.
