FCA To Move Two-Thirds Of Production To PSA Platforms

While discussing their upcoming merger, the PSA Group and Fiat Chrysler revealed that moving forward, over two-thirds of their production will be spread out over just two platforms.

The smaller of the two platforms will be PSA’s CMP architecture, whereas larger vehicles will be based on the French group’s EMP2 platform, as reported by Autonews Europe. However, RAM pickup trucks and larger Jeep models will continue to use FCA tech.

A new Challenger and Charger can't come soon enough...but keep the big engines and retro style!

yeah, most of FCA's platforms are ancient. It's all about how available architectures & suspensions & powertrains can benefit all the brands. But I hope they give Chrysler some attention fast.

it's still a complete cluster-fcuk globally.

Yes, keep their character, just modernize. I am pleasantly surprised how well the Charger styling has held up. It still looks good.

Anything that dumps the Fiat garbage is a good move. Now kill Alfa-Romeo, Fiat, and Lancia.

The Challenger did 66k units in the USA in 2018. I suspect it will do more in 2019. Although it could be replaced with hopefully a lighter platform, if they keep doing special editions, race track, dragster, cruiser etc, they could keep milking this platform for another 5 years. Maybe more?

The Challenger is selling with massive incentivization (sic). It doesn't have 5 years left because the incentivization is decimating profit. In about two years, there will be a clean-sheet CD6 Mustang as well as an ElectroStang coupe.

Can't wait to see the Ram 3500 built on a Fiat frame. Can you say 'flexible flier' or "BOING-CRACK."

The wise move would be to ink a platform deal for RWD because Giorgio is a complete disaster and LX/LY horrifically old. As for pickups, Ram is fine for now. The FiatJeeps need to go away quickly.

sooo....FCA wasn't working on new SUV & CUV/large car platforms recently?!

it's they're real quick to jump on the PSA tech. Was the FCA engineers just playing around for the past 2-3 years?

What have I been saying all alone? Yes. That's correct. No product development. No new Challenger, Charger, Durango, Ghibli, Qporte....
