FCA Is Throwing Massive Amounts Of Cash On The Hood To Move Vehicles By Year End
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV is making an all-out push to clear away tens of thousands of vehicles that its dealers haven’t ordered, adding to tensions over a new data-driven production strategy that can lead to swelling inventory.

The Italian-American automaker is offering its most aggressive discounts since the financial crisis to sell certain 2019 model-year cars under its Dodge, Jeep and Ram brands, internal marketing documents show. In a conference call last week, sales staff were asked to work overtime to press the company’s network of 2,400 dealers to take more vehicles and shrink the unassigned inventory to zero before Christmas.

FCA builds cars and calls them sold, but they don't push them all out to dealers, so they get this glut. "Orders" are not always from the dealer to the manufacturer. The manufacturer also pushes product out to dealers and tries to call them "orders". The Marchionne/Manley era of FCA is a period of gross ineptitude.

One question: Is the Giulia now 50% off?

I couldn't even see the road with all that cash piled up on the hood.

I'm liking the Charger I'm driving at the moment. Incentivized, this is a steal for a buyer.

I'm am surprised how well the design of the Charger has held up. It is still a good looking car with a roomy interior.

@skytop you have to roll down the window and stick your head out.

If you are interested in FCA product from now until their merger would be a good time to buy. They will be doing whatever they can to juice sales and keep share prices high before their merger.

On top of that PSA doesn't want to inherit the inventory. Although this is a "merger", PSA will be fully in control. The article talked about how this new production model that is supposed to be so responsive was producing vehicles not configured as buyers want and that I absolutely the case with the incoming.

The Chrysler model seems to be like Burger King saying screw it to healthy eating and shoving as much bacon as possible into everything on their menu.

I realize you know nothing about business, but if bacon sells, then bacon is what you offer for sale. Did you try the bacon sundae at Denny's?

I had a chocolate cupcake with bacon on top. It was delicious.

Boss Hog sells chocolate covered bacon online (I've had it. It's incredible). I suggest we all buy it and then drive a V8 Charger. It will put everyone here in a holiday mood.

I don't know how long I'll have the Charger. It was a courtesy loan from a dealer that wants to be bought out. Looks like we may say no.

I just read you can only get the V6 in the AWD Challenger. This leaves a whole other level for the current RWD Challengers to get even faster. Mind you they would need an AWD drivetrain to handle 707hp.

It's more of a space issue.

I saw this: "Ah the final frontier." on the feed and hoped it meant that Nissan had killed a turd.

There were AWD Chrys 300's & Charger RT's & Magnum RT's.

Either demand wasn't strong enough or a new transmission created space/production issues. I think it was expected low demand.

Um, yeah, I know a little tiny bit about business. And you misunderstood me. I didn't say I was opposed to the bacon business model. I think it's frickin' awesome that someone is making this stuff. Not everyone wants a Le Car.
