RECALL ALERT: 15 Crashes Lead To Ford RECALLING More Than 600K Ford, Mercury, Lincoln Vehicles

Ford Motor is recalling more than 600,000 cars to fix a hydraulic defect that could lead to crashes.

The automaker said Friday that it is recalling certain versions of the 2006-10 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln MKZ.

The vehicles, which amount to 600,166 in the U.S. and its territories, were made between Feb. 22, 2006, and July 15, 2009. 

Ford has identified at least 15 accidents that may have occurred because of the defect. Those crashes caused at least two injuries...

Chevy recalls almost a million of their cars and trucks.
Ford recalls over 600,000 of their vehicles.

What is the problem with American made vehicles????

Nothing. Recalls DO NOT mean that all the vehicles will exhibit the problem. Recalls are preemptive. THUS, big recalls are actually evidence of a manufacturer having your back. It's when a manufacturer is not proactive--GM ignition scandal--that a reactive response happens.

Toyota has has significant recalls in the last 2 years yet is rarely covered.

I'm of the mindset that if a manufacturer issues a recall it's a good thing for consumers. 15 cars out of 600K had issues, but we're recalling 600K to make sure.

Most of these models have gone to scrape yards by now. I wonder how a claim can be made for a past crash when vehicle has been recycled.
