Volkswagen Pushes ID.3 EV Into Production With A Serious Software Flaw

A report out of Germany claims that Volkswagen will continue to build its all-new ID.3 electric hatchback despite the car having serious software problems.

Manager Magazin hasn’t offered any specifics about the “massive” software problems but says Volkswagen will initially produce around 10,000 examples of the ID.3, fully aware of the issues. It will then park these vehicles at large facilities until the European spring of 2020 when it will start deploying teams with mobile computer stations to manually fix each and every car.

Believe it. It's being reported by several very credible sources and confirmed by VW.

Now that VW and Ford are cooperating, VW decided to change its motto to be more in keeping with Ford.

VW...Quality is Job #Never

Not available initially on the 1st Edition model, but it will be added via a dealer update, possibly the first available update.

Definitely will happen sooner or later. It's too bad that only Tesla and a couple Chinese companies are truly doing OTA right now.

I just got the Tesla Christmas update today which includes some cool features (if you honk the horn the last 15 seconds of dashcam footage gets saved, Twitch video streaming, 2 new video games, camping mode, a sound mixer (?), and Autopilot FSD preview which renders stoplights, stop signs, garbage cans, lane markings, and a bunch of other stuff people are discovering)

VW will tell the customers that get the units that everything is fine and they are miss-understanding the product, exactly like they did with the Diesel admissions and the Porsche Taycan range. push back and lie, that is the VW we all have grown to know.

Kinda like how the Giulia failed its crash test and Sergio said there was a misusnderstanding.

Or like the launch of the Jeep Cherokee with the 9 speed transmission that wouldn't shift for they parked them for a couple months.
