Who Do You Trust? GM Still Wants NHTSA To Approve Vehicles Without Human Controls

I'll be the last person to trust GM, the government or some programmer completely taking away my steering wheel. To paraphrase Charlton Heston, " They can take it from my cold dead hands."

GM is an expert at producing vehicles that function without human control just look at the Cobalt ignition switch thing. The car was doing its thing and no human could intervene.

I think this is still premature. Maybe Waymo is close to the point where the wheel can be replaced with an emergency stop button, but GM hasn't really showcased anything to show they have caught up.

Possibly not for vehicles you would buy, but to taxi / mobility companies that want to be able to do away with drivers.
